Trading Tips: What Would YOU Do?
So I have a pretty interesting offer on my car. This may be a bit EVO-biased but I'll still put it up both here and a suby forum.
I have an '05 STi with 28k miles. The dealer has a used '06 IX with 2200 miles (clean story too, traded up to something bigger). The dealer has offered me ~$5000 difference with an additional RS painted hood in the back seat (per my request). Is the year difference and 25k miles worth $5k?

personally, no, i don't think its worth it. what are you looking to gain from making the upgrade? i'm sure most here will tell you the IX is better than your STI, but the STI is still a great car and very close to the same level. it really depends on what you want to do with it and how long you're planning on keeping either one.
and for clarification, you're looking at getting a standard IX with an additional trunk you can swap? or did i not read that right?

Yes, sorry about that. I am pretty sure I want the RS trunk and that I am over a wing. In case I change my mind at some point, I'd always be able to swap. There will be two trunk lids total sold with the car. You'll have to explain what the GSR is, I think this is a GSR. Its the mid-level. No HID's or 6 speed, but it does have p/w p/d. Thats a GSR right? No leather.
What am I looking to gain? A longer warranty, I think. Fewer miles. I racked them up much faster than I anticipated the first year. I don't keep my vehicles until they die. At this point when I look to get rid of it further down the road it is going to be a high-milage car that I will get beat up on. My car is not paid off, but the payoff is relatively small.

better to trade for an evo than something else if you're going to anyways. keep relatively the same power, awd, plus you live in PA, didn't the groundhog see it's shadow? expect plenty of snow for a while! although, if i had it the other way around, my STOCK 05 ssl for uh, an 05 sti i'd do it! lol

a jdm gsr is a 6 speed , so a better term would be to call our us middle model a gt. which is the jdm 5 speed and more like the evo 9 middle us model
hope that makes sense....

just ask yourself, do you really want/need the IX ??? There is no denying the new IX evo's are nice but... is it worth that 5k hit ? Just make sure your arnt just jumping the IX bandwagon. I am hoping you have test drove it, right? Finally that 5k hit you have, could be put into mods for the STi, I am saying that because maybe some of the arguement for the IX GSR is that it can be modded and made fast cheap, well with 5k you can make your STi damn fast, but anyway, good luck with your decision....
