how do i get involved in road racing track events?

I'm really intrested on how to get involved in some road racing track events, no competition, just open track days, instructors on hand would be a plus. I'm having a hard time trying to find all the events and track days. I see all these postings of track days but is there some universal place where i can find a whole list of track days at each race course or do i have to just sift through a ton of forums untill i find a track i like along with a good date?

There's a thread about this very subject in the motor sports forum. For the midwest and east coast, I use www.trackschedule.com. You should also check out your local Porsche or BMW club, they do DE's all the time.

question, do these tracks just hold track days where there is small 100-400 entry fee to race on it the entire day with no affliation to car clubs, nasa, etc. or do i have to race with a group that has made reservations and join thier reservations on their forums b/c all i see on these track websites is the prices to rent out the ENTIRE track to yourself and a few people for a day or so which costs 2-3 grand

Track days are put on by an organization (BMW-CCA, PCA, NASA, etc) that rents the track for the day, and charges a fee for you to use the facility, instructors, etc. depending on the track, it's usually around a couple hundred bucks a day. If you go to trackschedule.com and click on the calendar, you'll see a list of club events by month. Pick a track and when you want to go, click on the link to application or website for event and you'll be all set.

try your local scca web site. they should post schedules of track days and you dont have to be a member to join in, just pay the entry fee.
