I really couldn't give 2 $hits about keeping the precious element of surprise for Chi-town Evo street racers. In fact the argument itself is so stupid I feel like I walked into a Vin Diesel fan forum.

AMS has credibility from their track car - first and foremost. They are proffesionals. Take it to the track and stop street racing. We've all had the occasional freeway run, but this crap about planning a whole evening and then hustling a street race for money is pathetic and juvenile. You guys are fuggin dorks. It also has a lot to do with why our insurance rates just went up again. Why not just go to the drag strip and bet money with the other car bowlers?

anyone who races for money knows there ****....and its common sense....awd good launch, good handling, slight disadvantage from a highspeed rolling start where the other car (fwd or rwd) has traction and doesnt have an extra set of axle's holding him back....

First, as an instructor, I would never condone streeet racing, so it's a moot point. The total just of what I was telling you guys was how funny it is to be recoginized, and how popular AMS has become.

If you want to be more 'stealth' in your hustle and flow, then you shouldn't even bring up AMS, because I don't have to mention their rep, everyone seems to know about the 9:41 from the shop car and the 900+ whp Evo they built. I don't have to bolster their reputation, they have done a fine job THEMSELVES.

And FWIW, it isn't just Chi-town, it is everywhere. there is always someone trying to pull the one-up on someone. There was a race last night between a 280+ SRT 4 who gave this 'Cream puff' Mustang 2 car lengths because it was only a 308..........with a 300 shot. Let me tell you how that race turned out. I didn't see it, but all who went said it was public and brutal.

Yeah, this is nothing new. Go out to NYC or NJ street races and witness the same kind of crap. And i'm sure its the same in most other major cities too.

Stop and turn freak is one of our sponsored Road Racers Julio, there is nothing wrong with what he is doing.

I have had my share in street racing but its really becoming a dead (no pun intended) arena, too many young people that are not being safe about it. Its just more fun to go to track sanctioned Street racing events like RSD here in chicago.

AMS as a shop thanks Dave for what he is doing and hopes that he continues to do it.

As much fun and money hustling on the street can make you its not about that. its about enjoying the cars.

Eric

Eric, Thanks for your kind words, looking forward to carrying the banner at Road A in two weeks at the NASA Event. I know I am no JonK, but I do pretty good for a fat old man.

I forgot to mention, the notable quote from the night......one of the SRT guys said this after riding in my Evo: "That is the hottest moves I have seen off of a brass pole!"

I just put jmartinez on my ignore list. I suggest other people join me. Makes things a lot easier and I don't have to read his tripe. Unless someone quotes him. Then you're SOL.

I've got to agree with Eric. I used to be on the "scene" every weekend. It's just not the same anymore. There are too many kids with weak cars attracting unwanted attention. I completely understand what jmartinez is saying, but AMS' reputation is out there regardless of what STF is doing. It's actually a compliment to have V8's back down to a 4 cylinder.

That was my point, not that I was out their repping them, but that the rep was out there already, and I have been, consistently, mobbed no matter where I go. That is what was so overwhelming. I used to have to explain to folks who AMS was, and their exploits, now people seem to know more about the cars than I do.

However, it is even funnier to hear the rumors that these folks come up with. I just chuckle, and let it go.
