Turns out to be cheaper to send the car over here for some TLC and some worthy moding and then sending it back, then to get it done over there.

Figured you guys would enjoy a foreign evo:

Picked her up from the port. boy she needed a bath

interior needs cleaning after that long trip across the ocean

sneak peak at the aux fuel tank. its nice to have around 30 gallons of gas... only have to fill up every blue moon!

Tell us how much you got the car for!!!!!!!!!

Wow people have a hard tiem reading. Its not his car, its a clients in England that was sent over for modding, and it will be sent back after work is complete. Also that is the stock rear bumper for JDM/UK Evo 8's, it was a carry over from the 7. The US was the only country to recieve the truly "correct" 8 rear bumper. That being said, I prefer the 7.

Normally a car is sent in excellent condition, cleaned in and out. I am not making this up, I have shipped 3 vehicles back and forth from the USA to the UK from 3 different ports and one of the requirement was to drop the car superclean for the strict visual inspection that the shipping companies have.

I have sent a Dodge Stealth R/T twin turbo from New Orleans to UK. I also sent a Lexus LX 450 SUV from North Carolina to the UK. I sent a BMW bike from the UK to LA international seaport and the Lexus SUV back to LA as well.

Who knows why your car was like that!!

Carlos
well the car was a little dirty due to londons nice weather, but they did charge me 40 bucks for a car wash when it got to US soil and they never washed it, i will be getting a refund for it, that kinda made me mad.

yes, i do not own this car, im only building the motor, tuning it, and 'race prepping' the car.

the vehicle as it sits now is not stock, it has pistons and rods and hks cams... it put out just shy of 500 when i tuned it over in europe. the map sensor they have on it now wouldnt read over mid 20 psi. so its getting a 5 bar and a bunch of other goodies.

Owning a car like this in Britain has to be a very expensive enterprise. A 30 gallon tank will probably cost about $180 USD to fill up (I'm assuming a price of about $6/gal. for the high grade fuel). Conservatively, this Evo would get 5 mpg at the track. So that amounts to well over $1/mile at the track for just fuel. Throw in maintenance, insurance, tires, etc., and you've got one costly hobby. Plus, don't folks pay quite a bit more in Europe to even purchase the thing? Mind you, I'd still go for it if I could afford it. She's a beauty.

you're exactly right.

when i went over there the cost per liter for fuel is around 1 british pound (~$1.75)

the london area is very expensive... you have to pay 8 pounds a day just to drive into the city. so imagine if you had to drive to work in the city and lived outside. youd be paying quite a bit.

i want to say these Evo's cost somewhere in the 40,000 british pound range. so converting thats like 70,000 US dollars and thats for a stock car!

you dont even want to know how much it costs to ship a full-race product over there, they have to pay 21% tax on everything (17% if they buy it within the UK), on top of the shipping.

Please remeber that the American dollar is about as valuable as the Peso on the world market right now.

So its CHEAPER to ship the car back and forth across the ocean to have work done then to do it in Britian because of exchange rates. He's essentially outsourcing the work to the US.

People in Britian get paid in pounds and 40,000 gbp a year jobs are common.

All European cars have them. kmxxbadboy is correct. They are rear foglights. Only to be used when it's foggy.
