Clutch

How hard is changing the clutch in these things on a scale of 1-10 i've looked at some write ups and it doesn't seem to easy.

I heard that it wasn't that difficult. The most difficult part is getting the tranny back in.

I don't want to shell out the money to have someone else fix one, i changed the clutch out in my FD but that is a just rwd. I don't know how much difficulty it would add with the engine sitting how it sits and the front wheel drive system and transfer case.

I'd say it's about a 7, on a scale of 1-10 and 10 being the hardest. I've done 2 clutch changes. Luckily, I had the use of my buddies garage (lift, tools, knowledge, etc.) otherwise I would not have done it. Evomoto.com has a great write-up on this. They give you a pretty close step by step instruction, and more importantly torque specs for nuts and bolts without having to look them up in the shop manual. Goodluck, if you decide to go ahead with the task.

there's one way to learn and that's to try. if you're mechanically inclined and patient, i say go for it! give yourself plenty of time though and don't plan on a couple hour job.

To those who have changed their clutchs did you go with an aftermarket one or did you just get a new stock one?

imo its not worth doing your own clutch install and putting the crappy stock one back in - even if its new.

thats like saying your replacing a broke stock radio with a new stock radio. it doesnt make sense if your paying for it.

on the other hand... if your getting a free clutch and free install , its def worth it.

I went with aftermarket. I put in an ATS Twin Carbon (got it for a good price). For the most part I liked it. Grip was amazing. Really short throw. Pedal feel was close to stock. It did rattle a bit (understandable). It took some getting used to since it was my daily driver.

changing out the clutch is tricky and very time consuming if you dont have the right setup and tools
