Windshield crack??
Whats up guys. I was wondering if anybody had this problem before...
I drive my evo on the weekends only so, most of the time my Evo is garaged. On saturday I decide to take my car for a spin..when i noticed a 6' inch crack on my windshield. The crack starts right in the middle of the windshield coming from the roof. Now, i dont think it got hit with anything because there is no impact point on it. Nothing could have fallen on top of it, since is in a garage....Do you guys think it is because of the cold? Manufacture failure? Will warranty cover this?
Thanks in advanced!

Don't know if that is covered under warranty. Do you have glass coverage on your insurance policy? If you don't have to pay a deductible or pay out of pocket you should probably let your stealership and insurance handle it.
I have had two cracks so far, but they have been from rocks and have impact points. I not sure how you got your crack, it sounds odd. If you think its a defective windshield bring it in and see what the stealership says. Good luck.
Yea its weird... I dont know if my insurance has glass coverage but i'll check. I will also check with the dealer.....To top it off my safety inspection is do 04/2006!!
Same thing in my girls RS starts from the passenger side middle of the window no noticable contact point. Her Insepection isnt up till 2009 well have to get it fixed before then because its growing as I type.
Not to bust your bubble but I have been in the auto glass business for 5yrs and Im sure you got hit with something. Run your fingernail or a pen along the crack you will find where you were hit. All it takes is a little tiny pit. Moisture gets in there and freezes overnight, when it defrosts in the morning the ice expands and cracks your windshield.
It can happen from extreme heat also.
You're not in any danger of driving the car, the windshield is actually 2 pieces of glass with plastic in the middle so it does'nt cave in on you. Its just a matter of cops bugging you with that crack.
Check with your insurance company for your deductible on glass.

Please don't replace your windshield with regular Lancer glass. If that heavier windshield was acceptable to go on this car, Mitsubishi would have put it on there in the first place to save themselves some cost.
