I got a speeding ticket!!! Can I fight this??

Ok....I know I know, before I get bashed it is my fault for speeding and I know this. Hoever on top of all of my problems that I have been having with my car lately my car got broken into and they stole my damn V1. So anyways I was on the highway in the area that I live, and I'm speeding a little. By a little I mean I was doing 88mph in a 65mph zone. But anyways this state trooper passes me in the opposite lane. I knew that I was speeding so I slowed down to the posted 65mph speed limit. So I keep driving down the highway about 1-2 miles later when I take an exit, go another 1-2 miles and 10 minutes later I see this cop pulling up behind me and he pulls me over, and gives me a ticket. So my question is.....isn't there some kind of a law saying that a police officer cant pull you over and give you a ticket if they loose sight of you for that long??? I mean he lost complete and total sight of me for a good 10 minutes. Any suggestions???

Yeah. They can ticket you for that. They don't have to keep sight of you either. Thats why they can get away with having one car or aircraft be the spotter and another vehicle pulling cars over. It sucks. They do it all the time on the drive from LA to Las Vegas.

i don't know about cali but in Illinois, if the cop clocks you and doesn't turn on his lights while trailing you in his respective city/town he works in, and lets you pass into the next town, he can't do anything after that.

You can fight and win anything. Hire an attorney if you feel like it. Usually around $250-300 bucks. I got out of an driving in an HOV lane last time.

Something similar happened to me. I went out for an airdry after a car wash one night and was doing 56 in a 40. I pull into the first neighborhood I see and I'm probably a mile and a half away from where I saw the cop, and her comes speeding up behind me.
He saw how bad I was shaking (I was 16, firs time pulled over.) and said he would let me go but he was calling my parents. I get home, confess the whole thing, mom flips out, yells at me all night, and the damn cop never called.
Yeah..... he got me..... but atleast I didn't get any ticket, only a verbal warning.

TO date, I've been pulled over 7 more times for vaious reasons, including driving through a school parking lot at 8 at night in my mom's van. 4 times in court, 5 tickets, 1 ticket on my record, and I wasn't even pulled over for that, I toatled my truck. I think so far I'm out 175$

Actually using an airplane to determine your speed is illegal in California. It is defined as a speed trap by state law meaning any evidence gathered that way is inadmissible.

Yeah I can see it now on the news, 737 tracks a speeding Evo on the 95 south. Maybe a helicopter and airplane?

Fight it and plead guilty to a non moving violation which has a fine similar to the ticket you were issued.

Fight it!!

i just got pulled over in ym friends beat *** neon doin 91 in a 65 by a statie, its rought bro. it depends on what you said to th cop when he pulled you over, and if you didnt admit to speeding (wich you shoudnt have you should have been like it wasnt me kinda deal) id use that same excuse in court there are a million cars on the road and no matter how rare the car is there is alway a slight possibility that there COULD be one in the same place at the same time. . . thats should be your story and you shoudl stick to i tlol

Did he get you on radar AND get your license plate?

I dont see how he can prove you were speeding otherwise. Granted you drive and evo(?) it stills sounds like a BS ticket.

btw isn't this OT? wtvr

10mn is a little rediculous. Whether its legal or not is another thing. But I would fight it. Every time I get a ticket I fight it. What I do when I get to court and they ask you your side of the story dont deny it, admit your wrong and tell them you are just looking for a break. I swear to God it worked the last 2 tickes I got.
I don't have many tickets so it might depend on your record, but its worth a shot.
