So a friend spun a rod bearing on a 8. the engine wil turn, but no way start. The reason being oil starvation. We've called around to a few places about a 2.0 built shortblock. Each shop says we need different supporting parts when doing the swap. One place said new oil pump another said new oil cooler. The list goes on.

The question would be then what parts truly need to be replaced when doing the swap.

Now heres part II he has the option of buying a complete engine off of a stripped '04 that was purchased at auction. No idea how anyone treated it or how many miles are on it. A shortblock priced around $2250+core not counting any needed parts. The complete enigne out of the '04 is $2500. Also what would be a reasonable price for a short block install? Complete engine swap price?
