EVO owners define rice, Seems diff here
http://www.laughatrice.com I don't think i've ever seen an EVO in the gallary.

This is precisely the reason why modifying the appearance of the Integra or other honda's makes them turn into "rice" before the Lancer. In other words, adding “stuff” to something that is sculpted (like the Integra) VS chiseled (like the Evo) will undoubtedly spoil the look of the Integra before a similar addition would have the same cosmetic affect on the Evo.
I've been a Honda fan since day one. The last three cars that I've driven have been third Gen Integras. Don’t get me wrong – I really like the personality and looks of the Evo (with a more questionable attitude regarding the wing) but if I could get the performance of the Evo in a showroom stock Integra body, I sure would.
You decide...

This thread makes me wonder who coined the word "RICE"? Sinced it is used to describe imports cars that are modified in a way that does not enhance performance, then what about cars lke neons, mustangs, intrepids (YES I wrote intrepids, ther are a few running around here with wings and such on them)? Now what about people who are going for looks but dont really care about performance?
Personally I believe Simple is Better. Then again I dont care about flash and looks (too a certain extent). I'd rather dump my money into speed and handling, and a set of 18 rims.

Simple is better unless it serves a purpose like the Vortex generator.
The first usage of the term "rice" I am familiar with was in grade school in the early 80s referring to Japaneses motorcycles as rice rockets.

Rice was coined by people who feared change and technology in place of brute force. Its like trying to get a powerlifter construction worker to master Hsing-I or Chi gung, its just a completely different way of doing something so they feared it and ridiculed it saying the the 4 cylinder cars burn rice...not gas.
...Now its an insult. However the term has no evolved as more and more people begin to understand the principles behind aerodynamics, a/f tuning, etc etc. So now it describes form over function modifications, and an overall poser attitude, I sometimes catch myself calling white peole dressed as NBA players or Fila suits as ricers, because they try to be something they aren't

Actually rice is a term created by domestic auto workers against Japanese imports many years ago. How the word "rice" evolved from that is beyond most. The term is offensive to some and deragatory in meaning. Actually people need to stop using the term as we had a thread that very extensively discussed this last year. Bad taste and ghetto fabulous customizing is not rice, it's just bad. People need to get off the "Rice Train" and just leave it alone. Not every part put on a vehicle for customizing purposes has to have any real form or function at all, get used to it. Look at most Lowriders and show cars that are driven on the street. Although, when customizing a vehicle you should have good taste or have help putting something tasteful together. I agree there is much bad taste on the street when it comes to customizing, but just leave it at that.
This is all just my opinion and I may be stereotyping so this is not always the case, but... What it all comes down to are age demographics and income. If you have an evo, chances are you're older than the kid with the moded civic. Chances are you also have more money than the guy with the moded civic. Evo's really never look rice becaue most owners don't want to put junk on their $30,000+ car. Civic owners, who don't have a whole lot of money will put anything on their cars just to attempt to make it look better and sound cooler. Why do you think there are hardly any generic parts for evos? Because there's no demand for them. There are plenty for civics. Just my .02
