Did my first mod to my evo!

Wow I kept on telling myself that I wasn't going to mod my evo, but even I knew that I was lying. The car has 3200k on it right now and it's an 05 gsr. I just installed a SW Boost gauge with a carbon fiber autometer pod. I couldn't believe how much of a PITA the install was. First off that little hole behind the glove box where your supposed to run your vacuum hoses through is pretty much impossible to get to. I pushed the little rubber grommet out from the engine bay and I never saw it again. I thought it ws supposed to fall onto the floor board but nope! I hope it's not essential that I need it because I looked everywhere. Then the stupid platic tubing that comes with the boost gauge is impossible to work with. I mount the pod on my steering column and that tubing is by no means flexible. I'm expecting it to crack in the near future because I can see that tubing being durable by any means. So I ran all the platic tubing to the hole inside the cabin and connected it to a rubber vacuum hose from there. I zip tied all my hoses and wires so everything seems fine except for the missing grommet. Now at idle my vacuum reads -16hg. Isn't that on the low end. My 95 tsi had about -18-20hg at idle and I hear thats normal for most evo's to. Not really to sure why my vacuum is so low because I checked for leaks.

You got the infection now!! THERE IS NO CURE!!! Those are the most DANGEROUS words an evo owner can say!! I tell my wife when I get a part: "Last part, I promise" there seems to never be a promise or a last part!!! At least if you get Ebola, or the bird-flu, you know it will end, with the MODIFICATION disease, there IS no end!!!

same thing happened to me while I installed it, but I ended up tearing all the pieces around the area up to find it lol. Also I bought like 10 ft. of vaccuum hose from napa so I didn't use the cheap platic piece that was provided.

I am also broke now because all I save for is mods...

I started out the same way,,, "this thing is bad ***, I dont need to mod it". Needless to say, I have had the car a little over a year and I am still looking for the "next" part.

Yeah I know it's not the end. I'm not going to go crazy though because I really do want to keep the warranty for as long as possible. Anyways just an update on my low vacuum reading yesterday. When I took her out for a spin to test the gauge the idle read a strong -18hg which is much better. However I was testing to see what my max boost was and the first run hit only 14 psi and then I let off. So this time and wanted to pull as hard and as long as possible so I can see my max boost and the boost it eventually settled at. So I maxed out at 22psi and it sat strong at 18-19psi till redline. Isn't that pretty high for a bone stock evo?? I thought evo's with reflashed hit 22psi!! THe gauge seems pretty accurate, SW gauge are very nice. So I don't really know.
