OK
Went to the dealer last night. They ended up offering me 17,6 for my WRX (7300 miles) and MSRP for silver EVO (wing, no sunroof). I wanted 18,6, so I left. Thinking of calling this morning and just doing it. Will not let me drive until I bascially own it. It has 17 miles on it, so I'm sure "someone" drove it already. I am not concerned with performace at all from eveyone's comments, my only real question is ride quality. I realize it will be stiffer than the rex, but how is it overall?? (compared to say an early DSM, which was fine with me). I know, what a panzy question, but I do spend alot of time on the highway and I ain't 17 no more (no offense to 17 year olds :-)).

Have you heard anyone at all complain about the ride being too rough? I haven't. Don't sweat it. Sure the springs are stiff, but the shocks dampen quite well.

Compare to early DSMs? Stiffer, a lot, but the handling is not worth comparable. Highway ride is quite comfty, but extended driving on side road (with a lot of bumps) could be tiresome. I've owned '92 Eclipse, '95 Talon AWD, 2 '91 Galant VR-4s, '91 Stealth TT, '95 3000GT VR-4. The ride quality is on par with 3000GT VR-4s, but handling is a lot better (Did I say that already?). I've never driven WRXs, so I can't say anything on it....
Hope this helps,

There is currently a used 2003 WRX with 8K on it, the window sticker puts the car at 19700.00. Based on that, I'd say they offered you a fair price for your WRX. Course, I dont know what options you have on your car, so i can only generalize. Currently based on Evo price and the prices of used WRX's, I'm thinking of skipping over the Evo for a few years and picking up a low mile WRX to drive around. For the people on this board that dont have the money for a Evo right now, all the used WRX's could offer a good short term alternative.
Believe me when I say this.... I really can't stand to drive my WRX anymore... It's future is VERY uncertain... And I don't know if it's me or what, but I think either I'm getting used to the ride, or it's getting softer... I love it more everytime I get into it... Dude, go for the EVO, you won't be dissappointed...
tell them if you go for a ride in it and you like it youll buy it you have to start filling out paper work though and have a grand for deposite i think well at least thats what they told me when i asked them to drive it

Hi OZ
the Evo will be a harsher ride than what you usually get in the USA. Think of it as relatively soft springs with quite firm damping. It rolls but will be harsh over small bumps. Like a sports suspension BMW times 2. Cant explain it better, really, sorry...

This is an easy answer.... if you spend a lot of time on the highway then you'll be fine. The suspension doesn't have to work that much on a relatively smooth highway after all.
The only time the Evo has felt rougher than my old Subaru (2.5RS GC8, Prodrive WR Sport suspension, 17" rims with 45 series tires) is on some nasty old city roads that are patched, uneven, pitted, etc. I think you'd feel a pretty rough ride in about any car on some of those roads, though. Otherwise the ride is just fine to me.
