Best way to launch
Wassup guys i know this has been discused but... I'm goin to the trackl tomorrow for the first night and the only mods i have are a perrin uicp and a hks rs intake. I know i know... I'm gettin a tune the end of march. Well I got some friends with Sti's that are comin and they all think that evos are slow?? Don;t know why but i have to show them up so what is the best way to launch? Slip the clutch and build some boost. or be more consistent and let it hit the 5k limiter and just drop it.
Many different ways for different people, depends on how aggressive you want to be. But..... if your not heavily modded, I would increase tire pressure to get a little wheel slip. I did that in an STI 31 front 33 rear.... Haven't had a chance at the track with the EVO so I don't know what I would run.....test n tune. Gotta take a few "consistent" runs before you make adjustements.
Just don't expect to get out there the first time and do really well. It takes time and experience with each different car.

i have tried both on the street. Granted the street and the strip are teo diff worlds but seems like to me dropping it when your hitting the 5k limiter kicks *** then it bogs down a little.. slipping it makes you build boost faster but makes awesome clutch smelll.. So i guess the best way is to try both and see which works better.

I have a feeling you will prove them right. If you have just those mods, which will hurt you, and you are asking us how to launch, which means you haven't already practiced a lot, then your times could be very disappointing. If so, don't fret, because it's not easy and takes a lot of practice.

.Easiest way to launch with the launch control is;
Just mash the gas and let it bounce off the launch control, quickly let the clutch out, but DO NOT sidestep it, meaning just let your foot off.. Just quickly realease the clutch so your car does not bog, but do not have your foot on the clutch too long to make it start to burning like a mother.
Good luck, and iam guessing if your friends in the STi have been to the track before you are going to prove them right that you will loose to them. 1) Your mods are probably hurting you. 2) You dont know how to drive yet
But good luck and be safe.

Is Dunn-Bennsion open all ready ?
If so i rember the track being slicker that Fayetnam so launching is going to be tricky .
If you can on the 06's take off the plug on the clutch switch to get rid of the rev limiter , what works best for me is a blip blip blip from 5.5k-6k and a quick slip . Just keep this in mind Wheel hop can=death .
stock limiter is really different than 2 step. I've heard great result from 4000rpm slip, feather and go, and not hit the limiter.
Try the "driving tech" section. some good articles there about launching.

Yah man the first night was last week. It was a pretty good turn-out.. Fastest thing street-car wise was my friends 8.5 talon that is stock besides exhaust. you should come out.

. Thats pretty good for a stock talon w/exhaust .
If it were me I would disconnect the rev limiter and launch around 6000. Release the clutch just a hair to get the car to move an inch then drop the clutch. Release the clutch to slow and your clutch life will go down big time, drop the clutch with out any drive train pressure and your being hard on your drive train. A good launch and fast shifting at about 7300 rpms and you will hold your own. I would put the stock intake on before you go. I know it hurts knowing you spend hundreds on a part that hurts your power. Have fun.
