Yes, you can re-gap Iridiums, but you have to do it very carefully. On my Denso Iridiums, I re-gapped them down to .022 in order to work effectively with my water injection system.

if you're gonna gap, you gap copper plugs. Iridiums are specified from manufacturers to have that specific gap to function at its optimal.

Search that, there should be a big discussion with data about why not.

But if you do, make sure you don't touch the iridium tip.

Did you fix your problem?

Sorry to go off topic and sorry that I have to disagree. In my sitituation, I have been running water/alcohol injection for over 5 years on my Talon and now on my Evo. Iridiums just plain last longer, period. I would get 15,000 to 20,000 miles on a set of Iridiums with my water injection mix versus only about 5,000 to 6,000 miles on set of copper plugs. If you're running no water or alcohol injection and maintain stock like boost, then the pre-gapped Iridiums will be O.K. to a point. Every set of Denso Iridiums that I've bought have come pre-gapped at .032 and I had a issue with the engine mis-firing a little at higher RPM's when I ran no injection. I re-gapped them down to 0.28 ( which my stock Iridiums were gapped from the factory when I bought my car) and the car ran great. Anyway, jesterEvo I would put in a set of new set of plugs copper or Iridiums and see if that pesky code goes away. As I said before contact Al for some more advice if your problem still continues.
