How to Pass NYS Inspection with AEM
My sig has all my mods and spring is coming so I am trying to find different ways to pass NYS Inspection and I was wondering if anyone has done it with an AEM yet? Did you get your stock ecu flashed? and reinstall your maf? Does Florida have an emissions test? Thanks ahead of time.
From what I heard you have to put stock ecu back in cause they use the obdII port to access your car ECU to check for CEL's and SES's. Just put your car ecu back and MAF and limp drive it to the inspection station.
You can't do that anymore. I live in ny and got inspected yesterday. The only way to pass inspection is to have the ecu that came with the car and it has to have no codes on it. They hook the computer up to the OBD-2 port and run the car for about a minute then shut it off. The DMV then recieves the information and lets you know if you pass. My car is modded with a flashed ECU.

they are right only way to pass is stock ecu, flashed ecu, or utec or other engine management that has or keeps the obd2 port. No check engine light or codes or you fail. You might be able to get a shop plug in another evo for a bootleg inspection of thats even possible anymore.
Its's not anymore. The DMV has a record of every ecu that gets inspected. So if that ecu was already done, they know it and that shop can get in trouble. There was a shop that inspected 51 cars with the same computer and all had different plates. needless to say he's not doing much of anything now.
Or you could let them hook up the stuff. then they will come to you and say we cant get a reading. Then you tell them it worked before and my CHECK ENGINE lite is not on, can you sniff the tail pipe. Then if they dont like that then put the ecu back in.
I was thinking that you could possibly take your stock ecu and put it in someone elses evo and run it so that the inspection sticker would have the correct vin and everything would match up. It would be a real pain in the butt to have to tear out the intake and try to fit up a maf and piping to the GT35R and I still have the magnus that I have to contend with. I know there are a bunch of guys running aem with big turbo kits and I was just wondering what they were doing.
Spring is coming and I want to be ready because it is a short season as it is.

You must use the stock ecu, the one that came with the car. There cannot be any codes. The ecu has no idea what size the turbo is. If you slip the stock ecu in, it might take a few cycles to realize the lack of egr to the manifold, therefore providing you with a small window of opportunity for conducting the test without a problem.
