Something bad happened to my EVO last night

It's at the dealer right now waiting for them to look at it on monday. But I want some of your guys input on what you think it may be.

I was coming home last night, and gave the car some throttle. I ended up hitting a fuel cut off at around 6800-7000rpm. The car slammed forward, and the CEL immediately came on.
I figured I hit a knock sensor or something.

But then when I applied throttle to the car, it would start jerking back and forwards, and the RPMS would die off.

We pulled it over and reset the CEL thinking it went into a limp mode of some sort.

We started the car and it idled like nothing had happened. And the second I apply gas to it, the rpms would go up to 3-4k then start dying off again. And I could have the pedal to the floor and the car would be at 1k.

Now what has me confused is, we found no leaks, no blown off pipes. No oil, parts anything. So the motor didn't blow. But what's strange is, when you rev the car from inside the engine bay, it's normal. It only does it from inside the car.

So if anyone has any thoughts or input, i'd be more than gracious. Cause i'm sitting here freaking out thinking my car is a gonner.

And I dont see how any of my mods could cause the problem. If you think it could of they're in my sig.

from what you said, I would check the rev limiter switch because that is the only difference from revving from the engine bay.

that it why you need to tune your evo and not slap stuff on there like a honda boy or a 60's mustang.

the IC piping is definately still attatched.

If I had a way to check the code # I would have done that right then and there. But the closest place to get a check for that was long closed.

And as for a tune that's next month when Shiv comes into STL.
