If KA is going of, then you can rest assure that a popo is near. Alot of times, CHP's drive around with the radar off. They can write you a visual ticket here (ie. "Aprox. 70mph) they are trained, and can do that.

They also have a low power mode. Low power, High power, and off. When they are on high power, like when they are out on I-5, you can hear them for, literally, miles.

Hey guys wusup..
I'd deffinetly go with the V1, because it is a little bit more pricey but imo it does a better job of catching cops, it also tells you in what direction the cop is, i don't think the passport does that... Also a very usefull feature for me... u can buy a remote controll for the v1 and hide your actual v1 so cops don't notice it..

Well, I have had both.

The V1 is too big and too noisey. You have to look at it to tell where the source is coming from.

I have 2 8500's. Both have saved me plenty of times. Have not received a ticket since I got it.

I have had a Valentine for many years and it has saved my rear, and my pocket-book many times. I actually had a close call this morning that really shows how well the Valentines features work.

I was entering an interstate highway, and as I merged I could see that it was clear in front and to my side going my direction, with a few cars on the opposite lanes coming toward me.No visuals on any law enforcement vehicles.

I did have an 18 wheeler coming up behind so I gunned it, and merged onto the interstate doing about 85-90. Suddenly I got a blip with a rear arrow on my Valentine. I immediately let off without braking, and quickly edged back down to the 70mph speed limit. I wasn't planning on any sustained speed anyway, and just wanted to jump ahead of the diesel truck.

Anyway as I am watching in my rear-view mirror sure enough out pops a police car into view. I continue to drive at 68 until I reach my exit and the cop has already passed me miles back. Did he give me a second look? Sure, I am driving a bright yellow EVO with a monster wing...pretty hard to miss eh?

The point is, the Valentine is a very accurate and sensitive radar detector, but the directional and bogey counter features are what I rely on. The Valentine may cost more, but in the end trust me you will be glad you spent the extra!!
