HELP with head unit please!
I have a poineer flip screen/DVD playing in the car. Last night it just stopped sending sound to the speakers...except the sub. I unplugged the negative on the battery, waiting and plugged it back in...the head unit worked! So I turn the car off, wait, turn it back on and I can't get it to work again...WTF???!!!!! Tried turning it off/on a few more times and the damn thing only thumps the sub. Anyone have any suggestions?
It sounds like the internal amp in the head unit is cutting out for some reason. The sub will still fire because it's only receiving the signal from the HU but is powered by it's own amp. Warranty?

Not sure. I would bring it to a local audio shop and talk with them about it. Maybe they will be able to diagnose and fix it.

depends, are your speakers connected to your amp? or are they conencted to your HU? cause if it's connected to your amp, check your amp ground and wiring. i think you'll find the problem there. if it's connected to your HU, then i would cehck to make sure all your wires are connected correctly from the wiring harness on. hope this helps.

No problem. I'm assuming that your speakers are connected to the HU and not to a seperate amp, correct?

couple things:
1) like sirloin said, if it connected to your HU, then if any of the speaker wires short out, the internal amp on the HU will go into a protection mode, and you wont get any sound from any speaker.
2) if the speakers are connected to an amp, check the RCA's at the back of the HU, and at the amp. check the grounds, and also check the speaker wires to make sure they are not shorting.

They're connected to the HU, I'll pull it out tonight and check the wiring harness...it didn't stop working until I slammed in into 2nd the other day. Probably jerked something out of whack.
P.S. You guys are awesome, thanks again

Read the ohms on your speakers if anything seems to be off then that could be the issue. Because a speaker that is blown/going soon can throw pioneers into protect mode, shutting off the internal amp. Do you have the stock speakers or aftermarket?
Then all of your speakers should read right around four ohms. If you put a multimeter on them and they read really crazy numbers or the numbers jump around a lot on the multimeter then you have a short or blown speakers.
