Yeah I hear some people still got the original clutch at 20,000 miles on their car but I doubt they race their cars.

Someone posted that the dealer decides whether to honor your warrenty. Not true, Mitz decides and I bet they will say no. I can't stand a dealership that says "we will take care of the problem for you for free or we will not fix your problem". The dealer has no say in this, EVER!

So turbotool, you will remove all of your parts and the dynoflash to get warrenty work and just have the stock clutch replaced? You are already in to deep. The Mitz rep will look for bolts that have been turned and for parts that look too new and inconsistant with other parts that have worn down due to weather or road conditions. Get a stronger clutch because obviously the stocker will not hold the power your car is capible of. If your gonna pay $500-$1000 for install on a clutch, it better be worth it not to do it twice.

I wasn't plannin on having the dealership do the work. I have someone else to install the clutch. I was just wondering if it was worth it to get the performance clutch and have them laugh at me if my tranny goes. Should I just cash in my warranty now?? If I cancel my extended warranty I can get like $1000 back for it. If the motor goes will the warranty also be void because of the clutch???

You do know that the clutch is considered a "wear item" and that they will not pay for it. and if you do go to the dealer they will charge an insane amount of money. I hear from $1,500 to $1,800 for that amount of money you can buy yourself a very good clutch

I know that. I have other people to install it. I work at a Chrysler/Chevy dealer and their are plenty of people that can do it there.

Get your money back and use it to install a new clutch by someone who knows what he is doing (not saying your friend doesn't know what he's doing). If you blow your motor and Mitz offically states on paper that the motor was blown because of the aftermarket clutch, then Mitz has to prove that the damage came from the clutch. Although they can prove that a dynoflash and other parts you have on the car could damage the motor.

Yeah, thats kinda what i didn't want to hear. I have the money. Thats not the problem. The whole problem is Mitsu doesn't cover anything. They should just not have a warranty with the Evos.

A dynoflash is undetectable by the dealerships.

Unless they're specifically looking for it.

Maybe they should take the 100,000 mile warrenty away from the Evo. Might make the car cheaper. You are right, they are very reluctant to cover the drivetrain. I see this every time an Evo comes in for a major repair.

What?!? 15-20k miles, are you kidding?!? I had my stocker for 35,000 miles, and when I was in hawaii I went to the strip every weekend, and made the SCCA autocross every month for a year. I made 100+ launches easy with 1.8 60ft's, and probably 10+ autocrosses, and no problems... I don't know where you are getting your figures from, but if that is what you experienced, you need to learn how to drive an AWD car. I think that is where this limited life of stock clutches spawn from, a person that doesnt know what the hell they are doing buys an AWD car and blows the clutch to shi t. Anyways, I am off the soapbox now.

Just buy whatever the hell you want, and I cant see you still be in the warranty coverage, unless you bought your '03 with extended warranty coverage... in that case you need to make the decision at what point is no return, if you plan on continuing down the upgrade path, then I suggest you just forget about your warranty and buy a twin disc or something that will last you... hope that helps.
