I agree BAM. Here in Washington, if you take and pass a MSC you don't have to go to the DMV and take the written or drive test, you are given a waiver. I took the advanced course, which is the same as the beginers cours cept you use your own bike, and it was fun, easy and I learned a few things I didn't know. And no, I didn't have my permit either when I took the course.

Taking an MSF course will definitely provide you with excellent basic skill that will benefit you on the street.

Once you pass your permit test you can immediately schedule your road test. In NY it will two figure 8s to the left and two figure 8s to the right. Do not put your foot down during this. Then you will be followed by the DMV procter in which you have to make two lefts and two rights. Then your done. If you live on Long Island, I suggest taking the exam in Freeport. Easy as cake!

It depends on each state. I highly recommend you taking the Beginners MSF. When I took my MSF course there were only two courses available Beginners and Experience. Now they offer a Intermidiate course.

If you are a military member of any of the Armed Forces Avtive, Reserve or Guard you are mandated to have a MSF.

Keep in mind that the test is completly different of the car test, the questions are different and they are made for the unique situations of driving a motorcycle. You should take the beginners MSF before anything else.

Also, on the same note, your insurance will drop your quote significantly after you fax them your MSF completion.

Last but not least, please wear your helmet. By the way, what bike are you geting to?

Carlos
