BRAND NEW EVO, maybe
don't forget that bonus money is taxed....take 28% off that $15k before you divide it in half.... so your $7500 you think you are getting when you complete your tech school is more like $5k...
My career field gets an a$$ load amount of money for signing bonuses and being a former tech school instructor I watched too many new airman run out and buy nice cars, only to watch them sit in the parking lot because they couldn't affored to buy gas, food or anything... 2-3 months later they go back to the dealership because they couldn't make payments.

Well I am not just a random chap looking at a chunk of money, I know what it takes to afford or not afford a vehicle. I did the numbers and it looks as if it panned out well. I know what the insurance is going to set me back and it isn't as bad as most would expect, $271 was the quote I got from progressive and that is the highest. An EVO 9.5! Really? UGH, I wish temptation didn't exsist but I think I know what I need to do, used EVO or no EVO at all. The job I picked with the ANG was not a bad job, money wise in the civilian world... just a BORING one, working on generators. That is why I want to go to school when I come back, so I can get into something I WANT to do, unless a job slot opens up where I can cross train. I heard USAF tech school is pretty much, wake up, PT, class and then do whatever, same on weekends.
i ve been in the army (Active duty) for two years now! and being single i have saved alot of money... i can afford to buy the evo 9 now with like 20 grand down payment an still have a couple grand left over... but i cant right now.. because were deploying in june-july to iraq for a year, hopefully less.. i got no where to store the car safely.. i really hope the evo 9s are out in 07 cuz i want to pick up a new one for sure.. or this 9.5 special edition.. if not i hope the evo 10 is not a dissapointment compared to 8s an the 9s...
but yeah man... sounds like you did your math... but you could be tight on money... i dont want you to be like the typical joe in the army.. whos broke as a joke .. living pay check to pay check ... if not save your money an get the 10 later on.. or pick a used one... good luck though man..

if you're active duty.. the govt will store your car for you for free... when i was in korea for a year mine was stored in dallas.... they turn on the car once a month and let it run for a few minutes while they move it forward.... it's a huge wharehouse and they cycle the cars thru... cars being pickuped are rotated to the front... cars being dropped off are at the rear.. every month when cars are picked up.. the newest drop offs are rolled forward... and no this isn't some mom and pop shop.. it's completely professional.. they don't take the car for joyrides! your people are jacking you around if they told you they won't store your car... you should ask your supervisor or someone who has been around for a few more years....

I'd be willing to bet that you could find a 2006 EVO IX around Christmas time. I got my 2005 VIII around that time last year. And by that time the dealers will be trying to push the 2006's off of the lots... so you can probably get a great deal.
It's nice putting a big chunk of money down on a car too. I put down 10k on mine... and it's nice to keep those monthly payments down.
