BRAND NEW EVO, maybe

I just found out that along with my job I get a $10,000 signing bonus with the enlistment of the Air National Guard... I need to look into the details and get it in writting however I would be home in 6 months and training would be done, between the bonus and money saved being in Missouri probobly close to $5,000 I'd have a pretty healthy down payment for a new EVO IX... graphite grey non MR (US GSR doesn't exsist lol)... now the question is... is the IX going to even be available brand new around christmas?

I think so, but no one will be able to give you a for sure answer until the time comes. I'm sure somewhere you will be able to get one.

If not, you can always find one barely used and save money at the same time.....

Dont be too qwik to jump in to it. Its a lot of money fer these things after initial purchase. If you have a good civilian job its cool but on E1-E3 its alot to pay for. Im a Sgt and its just enough w/ the mods plus hav'n fun. Deployments really help out too.

Yeah, I guess you havent seen what junior enlisted service people get paid. Reservist pay at that.

how much driving are you going to be doing while enlisted? might be worth waiting til your 4 years are up then buying one strait up....no payments!!

Ok well actually I found out different from the recruiter about the enlistment bonus money, it's $15,000 not $10,000... I get $7,500 right out of tech and the other half is inuitized. I am probobly going to end up with either a used EVO or something cheaper because I also had planned to go to school when I get back from training and though I will get about $500 from the ANG per month between the GI Bill and Drill pay per month, I may not want to tackle a $400 car payment at the same time. It all depends on weather or not I go back to school. I also have to consider the EVO X is not going to be $30,000 and chances are I'm sure Mitsubishi will be just as dumb about the warrantee, on top of a car that will probobly have bugs. so when they look at tire wear and void my warrantee then that will be awsome. NOT

Man, the airforce has too much money. 15,000 for a bonus for the reserves. Nothing wrong with reserves tho. Good luck with everything.

Yeah, well I doubt I will buy new now after weighing my options. First off, the job I pick I know I won't love for life, hell I may not even applying to anything but my drill weekends and annual training. I thought of a plan, what do you guys think? Alright well I was thinking about taking the money I have between training pay (while I am away, the money I don't spend over 6 months) which I could assume would be about $5,000... and they say it's easy to blow your money in tech school welllllll I doubt that, I'd be going to Sheppard AF Base in Witchitaw falls or whatever which I hear is in the middle of Fin no where. SO I come home and I have my half of my enlistment bonus and the money I saved while in training... Find say a used EVO for $22,000 or so... put $8-10,000 DOWN on the car and go to school full time... the payment would be under $300.00 per month over 60 months, the GI bill gives me $297 per month for being in school on top of my drill pay $200 per month so after the EVO is purchased... I owe $12-13000 on an EVO, I work part time (net about $600 ish) with that $600 from part time work while being in school, plus the $500 that I get from drill pay and GI Bill that is net of about $1,100 per month... that'd be enough to afford an EVO especially considering I'd be living in dorms right? A friend said I'd do better for myself to just get a $15,000 SRT-4 or RSX Type S while in school... put a huge chunk down and owe $8000 or so... but I thought why not my dream car, hell pretty good life right? In college, own an EVO and HEY I CAN AFFORD IT... or bad idea?

Affording the car is one thing, dont forget about insurance, gas, and maintenance on this thing. Trust me it adds up.

Sounds like you've pretty much made up your mind about it. Good for you...get that evo. One piece of advice is to not forget to calculate in insurance payments for the car, might be steep depending on your situation.

I just read a mod reporting that due to the release of a Evo 9.5, the current 9s will end production (or sale) by this August...
