I can't imagine going even stiffer for daily driving so after market shocks were not in my plans. I love the HIDs, could not go back to 'reg' lights, they are amazing. You could always save the BBS rims for winter or even sell them as people are always looking to buy them. Aluminum roof is nice but not one of the reasons I bought an MR. It was a 4k diff in price for the GSR and MR.. I thought, "the wheels alone are 4k." "so I get everything else for free." that was enough for me

FYI at 70mph I am sitting at 3k in 6th, not sure what a 5 speed is at doing 70, anyone?
I would also like to know what the regular IX's RPM would be at 70 mph in 5th??? Anyone care to chime in?

As it sits now I'm still 60/40 GSR>SSL

To tell you the truth, I really love the non-leather seats and the leather on the door panels sounds a bit TOO luxurious to me. If my car is going to get interior work done, it's gonna be CF, or something more sporty.

The only thing that has me second guessing is the sun-roof and these level controlled HIDs which sound sweet, but I have a feeling I wouldn't be using the level control much, if at all. None of my other cars had level control on their headlights o.0

Also, can I get fogs with a non-ssl GSR? Are they really useful????

At first, I was looking into getting a EB SSL but the price difference from a SSL and a MR was only a grand, so it was an easy choice to make. I had a white evo, I don't like red or silver so I got a GG MR. It sounds really dumb but the only real reason I got a MR over a base GSR was because I wanted HID's. The bilsteins, 6 speed, bbs rims, aluminium roof, VG, zero lift, sport gauges, and MR badging also aided in that decision. Even if I wanted to change out the suspension and rims, I could always turn around and sell them to make up the difference I paid over the GSR. Now that I think about it, Mitsubishi was smart in making HID's only standard on the two models that cost about 3-5k more then the base gsr.

Selling the rims would be a great option, but I will be using the stock rims until the advans die, and then I will buy winter tires for them. I will then buy a new set of rims for the summer. Selling the rims is just not an option for me

If you're not considering an RS then defenitely get the MR. I drove my buddy's new plain IX, it handled and rode like a much heavier car than mine. I know it's only 60 lbs or so, but it seemed like several hundred pounds heavier probably because of the extra weight up high in the roof. Then my friend drove my car and said he liked it better than his except for the color.

Then you definitely should get the SSL. I did. I like sunroofs, I would have passed on the leather, but I have an '05 and have never liked the cloth blue insert seats. People say you'll only open a roof on a hot day, on the contrary - I have it closed on the hotest days and the air on. But in the spring and fall, cool crisp nights and days my roof is just about always open. The sound system us just a bonus. It sounds pretty good and will hold me over until I upgrade it.

GSR is good if you plan on modding.

Don’t worry about the extra weight from a sunroof. Last night my car posted a 12.3 and it was the first time I was at the track since my cam upgrade.

I’ll try for 12.2 next time. I hope that’s not to slow for ya.

i love MR sorry to spoil your egg, but MR all the way. and MR holds value real good. too many STIs and not enough MRIXs. but yes everyone should have their own preferrence! and good luck on your decision! i went from a lexus GS 00 to a Lancer Evo MR. i truthfully love the automatic feeling and luxery.. i tuned the GS to the bestthat i can. still had luxery behind it. just love your car the way you want nothing is handing you down. just do your thing.

Yea the MR does hold its value better. I was in the same position you were in. The only reason I wanted the MR is for the HID's . The manager told me people who were buying the MR's were swapping out their springs and getting putting in the GSRs. But if you like the MR rims and the HID's then you might as well get it.

I went through the same thing and came out with the MR.
I figure I dont like sunroof, dont drag on the 1/4 mile every weekend, will probably mod with minor bolt-on parts.

The only thing I love about the GSR is lower price!!

Haha... I gotta agree with that, and it goes double for the RS.

If I could afford the MR I would probably splurge for it, but with the extra 4 grand I will be a lot happier with a great set of coilovers, rims and new heads/tails I think
