weight of intercoolers
Upgraded intercoolers are usually MUCH, MUCH heavier than stock. That's one of the trade-offs with a larger FMIC. Don't upgrade it unless you have an upgraded turbo or every mod possible on the stock turbo while pushing mega boost with alky or race gas daily (or if your stocker is damaged).

I think that the heavier the intercooler - the more material the better (if the intercooler is built well and flows smoothly). If you have a lighter intercooler to replace your stock unit I can bet you will reach heat soak much faster.
I heard the AMS one is 21 pounds, this was from someone here who put it on the scale. I have the Greddy R spec and it weighs 12 pounds..very light and close to the stocks weight. For the weight and price it cant be beat. I bought mine for $810 and it comes with lower ic pipes. Heavier doesnt always mean its better, im sure there are ones out there that are heavy as hell and dont work so well

in an attempt to balance power and control any addition of weight to the front of the car needs to be well thought out.
adding twenty lb to the very front of the car has disadvantages too.
