Long Trip Preparation

Taking my stock 06 IX MR to Tennessee in a couple of weeks. I have 2600 miles on the clock, 1 oil change so far. I'm driving from Somerset, NJ - would really appreciate any words of wisdom for the trip.

Thnx

Nothing. I would not heistate at all. I drove my car from AL to MI in the same night and it was flawless. Especially considering you are stock I think you will be just fine!

holy crap!
I can't stop driving this car. Get withdrawal symptoms even thinking about getting out !!! Absolutely LOVE the ride on the highway. It's a lot of fun in the city, but the evo is a completely different animal on the open stretches! Can't wait. ~8 hours of adrenaline!

i love the evo, and its a great car, but i HATE IT when it comes to long drives.
first, there is no cruise control
second, the way the gas pedal is angled, my ankle really started to get sore after 2hr drives.
third, the seats where not that supportive to my lower back. maybe its the way i sit, i dunno.

good luck

drove my evo from oklahoma to south carolina.. arms, legs back hurt but i made it. gonna have to stretch really good during your gas stops. put something like a towel or something on the armrest on the doors, and you should be good to go.

elhalisf - seating position is v.important! Not sure if others are with me on this, but having the seat closer - and a little more reclined really works for me on longer drives. But in all honesty I may be one of the few that doesn't have any problems with prolonged driving. I've driven from New Brunswick to Philly, and then from Philly to Allentown in NE PA - and it's been great.

You dont need nothing money for gas and pillow to sit on because your foot and and knee will start to kill you after a few hours. Last time we had a thread like this people where like bring a health kit , batt booster , extra plugs, run flat and the list goes on and on. All you need to do is check your cars oil and tire pressure and your ready to go.

lol On a side note, I feel so proud to be an Evo owner, it's a really great community. I was in Easton/Allentown/Bethlehem yesterday and spotted a RR Evo 8 - we hi-beamed and waved... even on the way there it was about 8pm on Friday night - I was doing ~70mph in the inside lane and a set of red lights speed ahead of me in the middle lane. Of course, it was an Evo - so I sped up to get close and flashed a hello... he/she flashed their brake lights Had a stupid grin on my face the rest of the journey, my wife just started laughing
Thnx for being so... great!

I must have buns of steel. I've driven from Baltimore to Raleigh without any discomfort whatsoever. I'm beginning to think the Recaros were designed for me. 7 hours (damn DC traffic) & 330.4 miles and in one tank of gas. Not too shabby.

The V1 is unchanged technology from the early 80's. There are far better units out there now such as the Passport. Not to highjack, but it is true.
