Water under the carpet

I was outside a little while ago vacuuming my car. When I got to the passenger side front carpet I noticed it had a wet look to it. I pressed down on it and a good portion of it was damp. So I continued pressing my fingers into the carpet and right next to the center console it is completely soaked. Like when I push down, it makes a squishing noise pretty bad. It's like that in a couple other places, but one place is really bad!!

I've had my car for like one week and something is already happening!! Has anyone else had any kind of experience like this?? I took out the MR badged stuff so that it won't get water logged, but I'm worried considering it feels like a good amount of water beneath the carpet.

i'd definitely take it to the dealer. you shouldn't have many mods that aren't removable being you've had the car for a week.

Not too uncommon of a problem. It's to do with your A/C. Can't remember the exact cause but it's something like the overflow tube is blocked. Dealership will take care of it for you.

Wow, it happened on your 06? This is a TSB on the previous models, so pull up my TSB threads and take that info with you to the dealership. There won't be a TSB for your 06, but they will certainly take care of you under warranty, and the previous-year TSB will help them diagnose and fix it quickly.

Just search for threads started by Warrtalon with the word TSB in the title - use the Advanced Search. I can't remember if it's in the 03 or 05 list, but they are cross-linked, so they're easy to find.

This would have been my first idea had I used the A/C at all. I haven't even touched the ac button, nor put it anywhere near cool. I've seen cars where they turn on the AC and it drips. But I have no idea how it could happen if I didn't use the ac.

I will be stopping by the dealership tomorrow. Having water sit like that isn't going to ruin the carpet or anything along those lines will it??

Thanks all.

Thank you very much for the info. I'm gonna try to bring it into the dealership tomorrow to see if the TSB is applicable to what's going on with my car. Again, thanks!!!!!!

my guess is that the hose from the heater core came loose. don't know how but thats the only reason for it to happened. unless the heater core itself is bad. then the dealer gonna have to strip the dash to get to it. good luck.

Holy crap the SAME thing happened to my friends (in their Grand Prix though) out in Phoenix. It was the air conditioner (forgot what...that overflow tube sounds familiar though), and let me say that driving around in 120* heat without AC is a *****. Take it back to the dealership!

You use the A/C without knowing it.. When you set the HVAC knob to defrost the A/C automatically is engaged

WOW only a week....hmmm ive neverhad that kind of problm with mine but yea i would DEFINETLY say its to do with your A/C system, and i would agree, since its so new i would take it back the dealership, maybe its a glitch in the new design of the 06 systems, seems that a lot of people are having that same problem, lataa

06 evo have the windshield jar in the trunk, i think the hose runs under the carpet to to front of the car. you might have a loose hose somewhere. my o4 sti have the same set up for the intercooler spray.

Went to the dealership today. Apparently they subcontract out to someone to take care of water issues. So, basically I have to wait until atleast Friday until my car can be looked at. The guy was really insincere and didn't seem to give a crap when I asked him "what if it damages my car."

No surprise in Actionville. I don't see how in the world they could sub-contract out Mitsu warranty items that even have a TSB. I would definitely check around and make sure they aren't pulling a fast one..
