I bet mitsu will tell him he used a high performance fuel so it has voided the warranty.

Couple of causes.... fuel level sensor in tank... electrical short from tank to ECU..... or ECU function itself. Its def warranty if you do not have any fuel upgrades. A scan tool gauge sweep a couple of minutes with a DVOM will find the problem.

i just had this happen to me like 10 min. ago! I was almost on empty so i went to 76 and pumped $20. So I i get back in my car start it up and start driving. about 1 min into driving i noticed the gauge had the same reading as before i pumped the gas! so i go back to the gas station thinking i didnt pump any gas but it showed i had pumped 5.xxx gal. so on my way home it started to creep up to a little over half. This freaked me out!!

This happened to me a week ago. My car was alittle less then 1/4 tank. Put about 20 bucks in and when i started up it was still reading the same. Took about 5-10 miles before it read where it was supposed to. Weird because it's the only time it's ever done it. Maybe bad gas?
