6500 is the current correct amount. This coming from my dealer rep, (i work at ). Already talking about next year. Im sure you will have at least two years of production. If not, pay a little more and get a JDM spec.

Don't believe that rep that you went to, he just tryna scare you. Mitsubishi shipped out 4500-6000 Units in the first year. I mean come on really, if Mitsubishi doesn't import anymore, how the hell are they going to make money? And all that hype for 1 year of Evo's? I doubt that. Believe me more Evo's are coming every year.

mitsu only delievered 556 during the month of march according to them. i thought the first boat had 900 units on board. anyway, theres only one plant building these(all evos for the entire planet), so it is a matter of time involved since they are producing both lhd and rhd models on the same line, right...wish i was in japan eating sushi touring the plant watching my car get the fininshing touches. i would have some more concrete answers..maybe..

Ive heard through the grapevine that this car is no longer limited edition. Mitsu will make as many as there are buyers.

if I may add to chairezdaniel question, any word on AYC/ACD also?

Isnt the Evolution the car thats going to steal a majority of WRX sales, isnt that the main reason why this car made it here in the first place?

It doesnt make sense to me that they would make 6,500 one year, than drop production, well how can you steal WRX sales with a car thats not limited production to a car thats supposidly "limited production".

Very mixed feelings about everything, Dealerships use the limited production line for impending doom that your never going to get one unless you buy today, SCC and various other people say this car isnt limited production and they will make as many as they can sell.

I would think if it were a limited production car it would have some type of production # plate on the center console or something like what Acura did with the Type-R.

I'm relatively sure the 556 number was how many were actually sold, not how many were delivered in March.

can only make a MAX of 6500 USDM cars per year and still meet the production amounts they have set for the rest of the world which is also around 6500 units

If is out to make money they will not limit production one bit. If the demand goes up so will production. It's just the hype so we can boycott more dealers who think they can get away with such a overpriced car.

It wouldnt be limited production and there will be an Evo9.
Certification of cars are very expensive, even for the manufacturers. Can you imagine all the trouble and resources Mitsu went through just to sell 6500 cars?? It's ridiculous.

If the demand for the Evo heats up, I'm sure Mitsu will convert their plants around to make more Evo cars. The Japanese are really good at this JIT (just-in-time) inventory stuff.

Thumbs up

man!! thank you all for the info about the evo8, i think the jerk salesman just try to pressure me to get the evo right a way, so hopefully it's like all of you say about the unlimited evo in US, that way i will be able to gain some time to save some money to get my evo someday!!!!
