Is this oil ok to run in my rear diff, X case, tranny?
Ok so i replaced my rear diff fluid with royal purple max-gear oil 75w90 it says it has a limited slip additive and meets gl-4 , gl-5 requirments. Anyone have this in their evo and what is your thoughts on this oil? I plan on also putting it in mt transfer case and transmission
Gears, jon at TRE, says do not use fluids that will meet both GL-4 and GL-5 requirments. only use fluids that are specific to one of them.
It will probably be ok to use in your t-case and rear diff, but no way in the trans.
however, i would not run anything other than the oem diaqueen fluids in the diff/tcase.

Careful what kind of gear oil you use because Mitsubishi WILL void your warrantee (depending on what dealership), if something breaks and that part used a fluid not recommended or approved by Mitsu.

Diaqueen in your diff and TC
Syncromesh in your tranny
Royal will damage your TC and diff

There is nothing better than the stock Mitsu OEM Super Diaqueen LSD Oil for your t-case and rear diff. Why would you want to randomly change that stuff? It comes from Mitsu, but some places re-sell it like Lancershop.com . In the tranny, you can upgrade to BG Synchroshift I or something like Syncromesh.

With MR's, I disagree with you on the Synchromesh or BG Synchroshift. I have been underwhelmed with the BG. I recommend Castrol Syntorq, which is available under a different name at Dodge dealers (and GM too I think). The Mitsu manual states 75-85 GL-4 or EXACT equivilent. The part number for mopar dealers is 04874459. It's a black bottle labled mopar synthetic manual transmission lubricant SAE 75W-85, on the back it states it's for the NV4500 tranny and that it's GL-4. This information was passed onto me by another MR owner here who didn't like the Synchroshift either.
I have been running redline in my rear diff for 12,000 miles with zero problems. It is certainly safe to run Mitsu fluid in there too.
i've been having trouble with my 3rd and 4th having tension pulling them in and out if i an being gentle or going back to neautral. if i shift fast the clutch grabs perfectly fine and i dont feel the tension but still i know its there and it scares me
i put in some syncromesh this weekend and it hasn't helped anything :<
