I love it how people assume that there is this huge difference between IX and VIII's.

Hell, the only major thing I prefer about the new ones is the better warranty! That's worth more to me than all the little changes...

Didnt the evo win best US sports car under 50000 for two years straight?

My 03 Evo VIII was the most enjoyable, trouble free car I have ever owned right up until I traded it in with 49,000 miles for a new IX MR. Although DefBringer isn't yet a believer...seeing the tail-lights of a IX dissapearing into the distance will quickly make a believer. Having owned both, I feel that the IX is significantly faster, more responsive, and better handling than my modded (cams, injectors, SAFC) Evo VIII. Evolution is destiny...Grow stronger or become extinct....

My 03 evo runs perfect no major probs, daily driven 70 miles a day. its funny how some evo ix owners look down on evo 8 owners, whats next evo 10 owners looking down on ix owners. Get real now, an evo is an evo ,ofcourse the new one will always be better than the last. EVOLUTION

I don't look down on VIII owners in any way. What I have noticed though is that the
people saying that there's no significant difference between the two is the VIII owners. IX owners might get a little cocky sometimes, but it goes both ways. Just accept that the IX is the next Evoultion because it IS better, as it was intended to be, but don't let it get to your head if you do own one.

People say that number one cause the dealers say that. They want to know that there "new cars" are different from the old. Mivac and rev control and variable pitched turbo are the only difference between Vlll and lX. I had a dealer try and tell me that it was a more efficiant 286 horsepower on the lX. I laughed. 286 is 286 no matter how you look at it in my eyes. The nines also dont allow for the car to go when at 5000 rpms or higher. This just makes it so you cant drag launch your car. Doesnt fix the clutch issue. Its the same car, Only thing I would want is the black on black leather seats with red trim. Very nice

I would consider that the technology involved in the '03 Evo has been around for much longer, making them easier to fix. I'd rather break a viscous diff than an ACD because people know how to fix and replace those. Just my opinion.

P.S: also my clear on the carbon wing is fading and chipping....also my RED brembos are PINK!!!

Those 03 sux big time. I have had mine for 3 years now and the other day, one of the bulbs went out on the instrument cluster. Can you believe it???? And then, the dealer went ahead and just replaced it, no questions asked!!! SUX!!

Anyhow, after owning it for 3 years and only problem so far is a bulb going out, I wouldn't say the 03s are bad at all. Let's hope it continues this way.

We had the same problem with a S2000 at my friends shop the other day. We just welded the exhaust so it couldnt flex anymore. It was melting his guard that was on his bumper is that what your talking about. If so Go to someone who can throw a couple of beads down. It worked fine for us. Also check and make sure its just the hanger. When the hanger goes it at times creats stress on the exhaust itself and creats a leak where the exhaust connects to the rod. If that is black there is a leak throw some beads there too, but its no rel big deal...
