US EVO not to be turbo?
Doing up an OZ might not be as bad an idea as some make it out to be in light of the that you live in SoCal. For us up north who can only keep one machine in their stable, it has to be winter drivable too so the AWD drivetrain makes more sense.
And I myself think that you cannot compare drivetrains between an AWD car to a non-AWD car... apples and oranges.
You can compare performance under different conditions and then give those figures a weighted average in your head and spend money in the areas that need improvement (ie. top end, off the line, city driving torque, track performance, braking, etc.) ... in essence, compare value relative to your needs.
The one thing that makes a JDM EVO (and hopefully the NADM too) such a package is that a lot of goodies are already there. If upgrading an OZ Rally to such heights, you will experience down time and unnecessary headaches during the upgrade process.

Believe me the wrx is not close in being Godly. Next on the list is maybe brembo brakes, sti injectors, larger turbos/ intercooler and M2 coilovers. He's already riding on So2's with provdrive p1 wheels and factory optioned ground effects and guage pod added. It's never done with such a car like the wrx or evo's. But i see your point about the price thought. Personally i'm with rwd or awd cars. Never was a real fan of fwd cars.
My point is that "is it worth modifying or just wait and save till evo VII or VIII arrives?" If your a performance enthusistic like me you would want to start form a strong base and make it faster. For fwd cars i dont think anything handles like the integra type-R and just that thought of that alone would discourage me. If i could give you a ride in the 300+hp wrx at 5000rpm dump you'd know what i mean. When they say all wheel drive.

Agree with GTR here. Wait for the Evo and mod that.
GTR, here's a web site for you: http://www.g-power.de/index01.php?sp=e

Claudius, thanks for the site but i have to hold off on any mods since i'm getting an evo if it comes soon.
If is because i've been waiting for an evo since wrx first came out. And i'd might just go with the zo-6 if that is possible. I'm expecting almost full blown evo with mods to pass U.S> regulation like the reps said at the car show. So if some strange reason they water it down with smaller turbos to match the smaller intercooler, i'm going to say STi b/c as long as I get the sti injector, sti turbo and stronger tran, i know how to fix it with the unichip

It's a piggyback ecu. It plugs onto your computer. The www.turboxs.com has probably the most inexpensive. For $1700 for 298hp is a pretty good deal. That is the kit i helped install. The exhaust is stainless and everything fits very well. The uppipe is a pain to install though. Have to jack the engine and wiggle the pipe to get it out.
As of the unichip they used it in austrial for years.

So 10600+17000= 27,600
You still don't have awd AYC/ACD, the Recaros, the 17" wheels, or the looks of an Evo with the wider stance, hood, wing, etc.
I think you'll be able to get an Evo for close to 27,000 and it will be better and have a full factory warranty...an OZ with those mods will not be under warranty and will still get smoked by an Evo and have less featues for a similar price. Just save up and get an Evo. A 10k deposit would be good.

you can customs make your own lancer oz many different ways and cheaper TOO.by super chargeing it and putting a Quad Throttle Bodies on it or even do both turbo and superchargeor ouad and super chareger.
the super charger cost only $4,200 and the Quad Throttle Bodies the *Naturally Aspirated - Four cylinder model cost 1025 and camshaft, exhaust, extractors and ported you could expect up to a 100% increase in horsepowerWHICH IS 240hp.by it self it gives a incrase of 40% to 50%increase in horsepower which it's 60hp.the super charger gives you 70 to 90 hp which makes it 210 horsepower.
$4,200 super charger 70 to 90 hp with out mods
$1025 Naturally Aspirated Quad Throttle Bodies with out modfied camshaft, exhaust, extractors and ported heads 60 hp with 120hp
$1250 *Forced Induction Quad Throttle Bodies with mods 120 hp
super charger lancer oz =$25500
lancer oz Naturally Aspirated Quad Throttle Bodies with modfied camshaft, exhaust, extractors and ported heads =$22325
lancer oz with Forced Induction Quad Throttle Bodies =$22525
lancer evo gta=$27000to$35000!!!!!!!!
plus the dealer mark up maybe $40000 grand for a gta

If the Evo is 40K it won't sell..plain and simple. It will be priced under 30K and there are a good bit of dealers that are selling at msrp. The dealer I'm going to may even sell under msrp.
Btw, why are you saying GTA Evo? We may get a variation of the GTA but we won't get the "GTA" as is.

Maybe it's hard to find msrp where you live but in Michigan it'll be hard to get a 03 mustang cobra at msrp but, that wrx i was talking about was bought from the floor during the 2nd week of released. People were interested in buying but coming in and buying that second is a different story.
If it was possible to get the first batch of wrx not preordered i'm sure an evo would be found on the floor. Especially if it's priced for 30k. For some odd reason the ann arbor dealership get a large number of japanese cars. That's where i would expect to see some in the lots. I remeber people from florda called and bought the one we were checking out that second. It was differcult to find one but it's also nowhere near 30k unless you opt. for the bbs wheels
. So what i'm saying is that i hope it's around 29k so it'll be easy to purchase one.

Its good to see constructive criticism and knowledgeable answers as opposed to ignorant replies.
Ofcourse it's obvious that the specs of the Cedia can't even come close to matching the specs of an EVO VII, even after all the modifications. A fixed up Lancer is not an EVO. Two seperate cars on opposite ends. The point is, though the power and handling of a fully tricked out Lancer may not be even close to the EVO VII (but hey, how many cars do?), It's the amount of wrench time you put under the hood. To take an under porwered Lancer and turning it into a road hugging speed demon will be quite a satisfying accomplishment. It seems like I've been waiting forever for the Evolution series to hit U.S soil. That date hasn't been etched in stone yet and I don't see it happening soon. But hypothetically speaking, if the EVO VII were to come out tomorrow, I would be hella phuckin pissed for not waiting a bit longer.

To each of his own, I guess each and everyone of us here can make our own decision. No need to tell what should/shouldn't someone else do... plastikpyro, have fun with your project there...
