Damn, this thread snowballed fast!

My opinions:
1. EVO w/ no turbo
This is the dumbest rumor I have heard yet. Turbos are not illegal in Cali and an Evo with no turbo is insane and, I'm sure, never even considered by .

2. modding an OZ instead of getting an EVO
Not even the same. A modded OZ is not in an EVO's class and never will be. Everybody is associating the Lancer and the EVO, but they only share the roof and trunk. Two or three body parts is all that's common between the two cars.

3. plastikpyro, don't be offended so easily. One person's opinion isn't always an attack, and even if it is, it's only a forum. Don't take these things so seriously, bro!

heh heh, EVO with no turbo. Thats about as believable as a Nissan Skyline without turbo. Oh wait, that will actually happen

Edit: Like a fragile butterfly, I emerge from my cocoon.

The GT-R is essentially a muscle car so Nissan can get away with displacement and such instead of turbos. The EVO is a small car with a 4 banger. There's no way they can keep similar performance without a turbo or Honda-like torque (or lackthereof).

You guys are getting so discouraged based on baseless rumors...

How about this for a rumor:

THE GTA IS COMING WITHOUT A TURBO AND A FAKE SIDE-MOUNT INTERCOOLER.

Question: Does the 4G63 ever come without a turbo? Even if it does, the rumor that the Evo is coming without a turbo is THE dumbest rumor I've heard so far. I'd have to concur with Docious.

I saw somewhere that the EVO VII for America is to come with a 350/350 combo, 4 barrel double pumper carb, and ram air, also look for Mitsubishi to stop there WRC campaign and use the Evolution for NASCAR...

NOT a RUMOR

Just a bad dream.

Well , I dont see it as dumb to turbo my OZ,even if it runs me 10K ..Im the only s.o.b that didnt pay for his...and the company wouldnt wait for the EVO to be released they wanted to give me my car now so they could take pics of it so they can put me on the walls in the office.

Im actually thinking about using it as a down payment on the EVO/GTA

Well put!!! I agree..... The satisfaction comes from fixing up your car. I'm sure those ppl who bought faster cars already don't get as much satisfaction from winning a street race than the ppl who moded the car themselves. Hard work feels good.

I smoked a type-R in my 94 Si Prelude a couple months back. Just wanted to say that. Not a big feat, but for those trying to act cool, it felt good.

I am going to have to totally disagree. The whole point of fixing up a car is to be more powerful, and beat more expensive cars. Eating an intergra type r is fine, but the prospect of eating an M3 with a car that cost almost half as much is what intruiges me. Another thing, I have a 97 V6 Camry 5spd. Not a bad car, but I'm sick of dumping money into a car that is such a weak platform to begin with. FWD is a MAJOR drawback, and adding turbo systems to normally aspirated cars (especially those with v6's) is ridiculously expensive. Starting with an AWD system with a four cylinder turbo making 280+hp is a lot more cost effective, both in the short term and the long term. Plus, being able to eat Mustangs and Camaros at will is an idea I really like. Not, to mention, no matter how much money (within reason) that you dump into a prelude (or camry), you'll never be a ble to beat a porsche. Yet, the possibility exists for an Evo to do just that.

PS: And who's to say you can't make an Evo your own? If anything, there will be LOTS more parts to fix up EVo's, and customize them, than the US Lancer.

A platform that comes factory turbo is much easier to get the high HP figures than the one that comes NA. The aftermarket is generally bigger for turbo cars as well as these are the cars that Japan already has (thus enabling them to use the same parts here. This is exactly what happened with the IMPREZA. The aftermarket on the RS (NA) wasnt much. Eventually, turbo kits were made but it sucked that the big names werent making much more than cat back exhausts. We couldnt tap into their market with all of the computers and boost controllers etc, designed for the turbo impreza. When the WRX made it over here we had much more available to us for modifications.
