Almost 1,300 miles in 2 DAYS for my Evo.

Yep, I finally got my Evo 8 Friday night...I found out at lunch that it was there and ran out the door at work and made the 2 hour drive to get my new baby. It was just sitting there all clean and perfect, and I just had a tingle knowing it was coming home with me.

Well, it had only 8 miles on it when I picked it up, and less than 24 hours later it had the 600 miles of break-in done. By the second full day of ownership I had crossed the 1,200 mile mark and had closed in on 1,300 miles. I love to drive, and the car is just so comfy.

A couple impressions:

1.) This car is very smooth at highway speeds. I was cruising at about 100 miles per hour with my parents and they said it felt like 60 mph.

2.) The AWD system ROCKS on this! The night I brought it home was a torrential down pour (literally) and I could still drive 90-95 mph no problem.

3.) Seats are awesome.

4.) Turbo kick in (after break-in miles) is really great, but does fall off on the upper end of the tach. No biggie, but it is obvious.

5.) Dealer did not know ANYTHING about the car..when buying the extended warranty they asked if it was front or rear wheel drive and were stunned when I said "all-wheel".

Either way....it is a great car! WOO-HOO!!

I did 80 up an on ramp with 4 people in the car, two of them being my mom and my siter!! Handled great...but I could kinda feel the backend starting to inch out from me....but I still kept on it and it stayed planted. by the time I actually got on the HWY I was doin 100 and the people in the car couldn't believe it too....they said it felt like we were doin like 65....were their exact words!

Please don't drive 90+ mph in a torrential downpour. I'm surprised you could even see out the window if that was the case.

Congrats on the new car though.

I don't routinely drive that fast in rain that heavy...but I had a situation where I had to get back by a certain time....still not too smart, but it was something that was done. The car was great though.

Yeah....my parents are pretty cool....about a month ago I was letting my mother drive my S2000 home from lunch and I was riding with my father in his Legend when they stopped next to each other at this stoplight on a highway near here. The road ahead was long, straight, and had few cars. My father revved the Legend, the S2000 revved back, light went green and they both floored it! They raced up to about 120 mph before letting off. Nice, eh?

Were you just cruisin' around, or were you actually going somewhere? 1200 miles in just 2 days is quite a feat if you are just driving without a purpose. But I could understand if you couldnt turn the car off because it is so great.

Congrats, and have fun!

Dude, how come those 1300 miles didn't include a stop by my place? (Yeah, I know you don't know where I live...)

Hey gang.....I was just sort of cruising....I liked driving the car so much I just drove a lot of different places. It was funny because I stopped at the SAME gas station 3 TIMES in one day. LOL! They must have thought I was nuts.

WestSideBilly....I will be home again in a couple of weeks, so you should come over and check out the car. It is pretty fun.

Like he said....my Mom kicks ***. She is probably the coolest Mom in the world. How many other parents would say, "That sounds like a good idea," when their son said they needed an Evo to compete in One Lap of America?? LOL!
