ok i have had my evo for about a year and i go it used with 13k it was fine when i got it but recently when i shift into second it feels rough some times even grindy its weird because i wont do it everytime and i havnt grinded second ever since i owned it does anyone know what it could be and do you think mitsu will cover it

Have you tried adjusting the clutch pedal so it's a little further out?? That way it'll engage sooner.

 

Is it rough or grinding ? Big difference. The differnce between new synchro and fluid change. Whether Mitsu will cover it , it depends man. Playing warranty games with the dealer is alwways a crap shoot, just depends on your dealer. In an ideal situation if your car wasn't modded and still had the warranty, then yes they would cover a bad synchro. Either way i would take it in and get it looked at. Good luck man.

 

its rough but today a few shifts into 2nd felt like a grind

 

my mods are coilovers, intercooler, hfc and cat back so i dont see how they can void may warranty as far as the tranny goes

Depends on the dealer man, some of them could be ******. I know my dealer does warranty work on some heavily modded cars but then again some are really opposed to working on anything modded.

 

The intercooler and HFC would void your engine and tranny warranty.

I know these cars retain their value quite well, but I would never go near a used one.

 

i'll try the fluid and see how if feels after that

 

most likely the 2nd gear synchro, change the oil but the 2nd gear grind wont stop, its very common, atleast among the people i know and my own experience. do you race or drive the car hard, hard launches...? You may just have to deal with it or get it rebuilt.... by shepherd racing of course, all your problems will disappear.
