Fuel Pump Whine

I've had a Walbro fuel pump for a while and everytime I drive the car hard at the track and finish the session (road course) with fuel level below about 3/8 of a tank, the fuel pump is whining like crazy. Anyone else have this experience?

I've heard of some people building a scavenge tank for fuel because the there's a chance that the engine might not get fuel when cornering hard due to the location of the pickup. Any truth to this and does anyone have first hand experience?

Thanks in advance.

I dunno about the track part of the question but my pump always whined except for the past few weeks. It had a slight whine reguardless of fuel level.
