Strange Noise ... please help

Hey guys I was at the track all day today and started hearing a weird noise that one eaither wasnt there or I have never heard before.

When accelerating, everything is cool till I hit 6500 ... at which time I hear a pusssssht sound. It happens everytime at 6500 under full throtttle. Any one have any ideas?

I dont think its compressor surge as its not when I lift its only under full throttle.

It sounds like your bov isn't holding closed. What does your boost pressure do when the noise starts?

Sounds like the answer. If your car is still running well (though it might seem down on power) that's probably it.

Yea thats how it feels.

I went back to the track for day two and it was now happening sometimes at 5800 rpm and 6000rpm and 6500rpm. ... if I stay on the gas it goes away but feels like its down on power a little (not a lot) and its quick ... like for a secound or so.

Someone told me it could be a boost leak from bad clamps

Someone else told me its the wastegate dumping

Someone else told me it compressor surge

Should I take it in the the dealer for that (the car is stock motor and exhaust wise) I only have suspension set up on it ... Or can I check this out my self?

It dosnt seem to do it if I park the car over night and try and get it to do it in the morning only on the track when pushing the car for a period of time or when the car is warmed up.

Sounds like a classic boost leak, but just for the sake of checking the box....

Do you have the stock intake? If so, do you still use the stock intake snorkel? If so, do you have BOTH clips fastening down the snorkel?

Yes stock intake, but no I for got to put the clips in when I changed the filter (the two black clips that hold the front of the scoop down) and seemed to have missplaced them ...

Sounds to me like WARRTALON is right.

Fasten the snorkel down and it should not do that.

under boost the snorkel is getting pulled up into the hood causing an air restriction to the motor.
