2006 eclipse - EVO?

Hi, I want to trade in my 06 eclipse gs in for an evo rs used, the thing is I want the same payments or close to the same payments 350/month for 60 months. I am willing to put a few grand down. So can anyone in the bay area help me out? or even southern cali.stockton, san jose, santa clara, santa cruz, livermore, san francsico. Thanks in advance.

Well, you'll probably take a big loss on the 06 GS, because you just bought it and Eclipses don't hold their value well. It depends on how much you put down and your previous financing, but you probably owe a lot more than it's worth right now. That will factor into your Evo purchase. The RS is the cheapest (new), but they are rare, so they don't sell for low prices. The oldest you can get is 04, too.

So, assuming you somehow break even on the Eclipse due to putting down a large downpayment originally, you will need to finance $18,000 over 60months to get $350/mo payments. To get an RS loan amount down to $18k, you will need about a 6k downpayment assuming you can find an RS for 23k and only pay 1k for TTL.

cool, links or phone numbers would be nice. The only thing I could find was stevens creek and capitol mitsubishi (which werent that helpful)

BUT does anyone know if its possible for me to basically swap my eclipse for an evo with the same payments and a decent warrenty and not over 26k miles?

by the way if not sooner it will be later I AM GETTING RID OF THIS ECLIPSE. I am going to get an evo and the only way I will get an sti is if I can find a really good deal on one. im only 17 about to be 18 and no BS I have skills, I can put some major pressure on some sti's (havent raced an evo yet because for some reason it seems out of all my friends I am the only one that think STI's look like a deformed car, anyways anyone near livermore wanna see whats up on tessel road let me know, be aware though only for experienced drivers because you can fall off the mountain if you take a turn to quick.

Considering that a brand new 06 GS invoice price is 18.3k, I highly HIGHLY doubt you can sell your used one with 6k miles for the same price as a new one. You will probably take a few thousand dollar hit, and then finding a used 04 RS for 23k will also be tough. I don't think you have any business worrying about an Evo at your age. Wait until you are making more money and have finished school or something.

Also, there's no way your 162HP keeps up with any STi.

Do us all a favor and stick with the Eclipse.

Actually, I had bought a 2001 Eclipse gs new for about 18k-19k and when I traded it in for my 2003 Evo 2 years ago I got 12.5k for it with over 40,000 miles on it. So it held it's value really well.

I don't know how that's possible, because not even a GT would hold that much value after that amount of time. I know, because my wife bought a new GT for 24k in 2002, and it only sold for 12.5 2 years later in 2004, and that was to a private party. She also only had 20k miles, so their value retention is terrible. Whoever bought your bottom-dwelling GS for 12.5k must have been really stupid. Those Eclipses are notorious for having some of the worst resale value of any car. Luckily for this guy, he has a different model year, but it's still the GS, which is total weaksauce.

Yeah, I guess I was just lucky . Funny part of it was is that I had a bunch of mod's on it too LMAO!!!!!! And they say mods don't help the value. It was Silver and had:

Shine Street 8 Piece Body Kit
Injen Cold Air Intake
Magnaflow Catback Exhaust
Clear Front & back lens
and a bunch of other little silly things.............

The car was slow as a sled but it sounded AWESOME and looked great. I do miss it as times........................

Actually we always did well with used 3G's. Especially the GS's. Parents preferred buying them for teens because of the lower insurance. The GT's sat around longer and weren't worth that much more used, depsite the premium they required new. I would say during the last few years the Eclispes were the BEST at retaining value amongst Mitsus, until recent years when the Endeavors showed up and they shifted their tactics away from being a rental fleet, poor credit selling manufctaurer. Could be a regional thing though.

Oh, and to the OP, I hope you don't hate your Eclipse too much, because the chances of you trading out of it and keeping your payment the same without substantial mney down is nil.

He said he traded it in. Chances are, he paid MSRP or MSPR + for his new car, so the dealership could afford to pad the trade a little to make him feel better about it. That's what they do!
