That sucks, man. 
But before you guys start worrying, it's probably not going to be a mechanical but an electronic limitation. therefore, by changing the ECU, you can get back to the original 280 hp and a lot more just like I have.

252hp? I last read it was going to be 300+ in Motortrend/Motorweek (cant remember which one...the mag with the 390hp cobra on the front)...Looks like WRX for me after I get tired of my impreza 2.5RS.

It's most importat that they engine be internally same. After you mod the car you'll be right back to 300hp or more. The most important thing will be how they lower the hp... smaller turbo, less boost, restrictive ECU and exhaust system, etc. Unless the internals are heavily altered, the other mods will easily replaced.
I would be happy that they are supplying the Recaros and Brembos (according to this article).
