Mechanical failures while AutoX-ing
As the title says, I was wondering who broke what while AutoX-ing. I'm not interested in those who track their cars because I think those cars take a little more abuse than AutoX. I generally feal that the AutoX is kind of healthier event than tracking but still would like to find out who broke what, and maybe what were the circumstances.
Nothing here in 10+ autocrosses, but I also haven't gotten to the national level of competition. I do very well and win my class usually, but I haven't had any mechanical issues whatsoever. I've just worn through tires.
autoX casualties:
1: weapon ARRRRgh engine dampener - broke the engine mount bracket
2: hotchkiss swaybar mounts - I had the early mount design, and would break a bracket about every other event. Since then (about a year now) I received their newer design and I have not broken any brackets.
3: fender wells are worn out from rubbing on my race rubber.
4: the lower undertray mounts are somewhat trashed by boffing too many cones. The holes for those dammed plastic fasteners are torn and stretched.
5: The inevitable cone marks. I don't even bother with the front end anymore, I try to keep up on the sides, but the edges of the bumper skin are black from all the cone marks.
6: wore out the original brake pads and rotors within the first year. The rotors were well outside their run out limits.
That is about it, other than what I mentioned, I have been breakdown free for the past 2 full seasons of autocross, running~25-30 events/year with a co-driver last season. In a nutshell, a whole lotta cones have been dodged with little problems
