I have a slight rattle as well, but its been like that since the beginning. Not too worried about it as its not a quiet ride.

....Relax guy, its the old mitsubishi throwout bearing rattle only goes away when clutch pedal is pressed in. Its normal! I get it on my 2000 eclipse gt which now has an aftermarket clutchmasters clutch & throw out bearing and an fadanza light weight flywheel. It still rattles with the after market parts, so its a design flaw, just turn up the music you wont here it anymore.

Well yes that rattle from your throw out bearing is normal... i had an 8 before and same noise... get a TBE and that noise goes away but others will arise....

also be careful, i had a noise under my hood which i thought was normal on my 9 and it turned out that the bolt that holds the radiator fan in place had sheared off and my fan mas hitting the radiator and making beautiful holes in it, in a circular pattern, which i though was just divine!! yes i got it fixed, almost the same day, it was horrible, coolant everywhere... Mitsu says "it must of came defective from the factory." wow thanks Mitsubishi! So beware!

My IX doesnt rattle at idle but I do have some weird idle from the passenger side of the car at 2000-2200 RPM and 3000-3200 RPM. Other than that, nothing.

Curious, but what other noises arises when you put a TBE? I'm on stock exhaust with a test pipe and I've been debating on getting a TBE although quiet such as Buschurs 3" with a Magnaflow muffler.
