Question speedometer issue need help!

I just purchased my 05 Evo (brand new) from Mitsubishi about a month ago. About a week after having it I notice my speedometer would jump around just a tad. Well after a couple weeks sometimes (even if im slowly crusing) but can act up more when accelerating fast my speedometer jumps around like crazy. Sometimes it will drop off to 0 and come back,, other times it will wildly swing around in the 100's.... (I think she just wants to go fast :P) heh, no but serious what the hell!

I took it into Mitsubishi and after had noticed they drove the car for about 35 miles they said "they couldn't recreate the issue" but it happens at least 2-5 times a day... Any possible ideas what may be causing this??

I would check the connection to the speed sensor (on the trans case) and the connection above it (follow the wires up).

It's convenient how they can never "recreate the issue." That happened to one of my cars once and it turned out to be a faulty connection. Make sure that there aren't any loose wires or bad connections. Vague, yes, but I don't know of any other way to do it.

Thanks

Thanks guys big help... I'll let you know what I find. You'd think that Mitsubishi would take my word on it. It has 3k miles on it and started with around 1k miles. Come on Mitsu, why would I lie about something like that?!

Any update on this? I have EXACT same issue. I have an Evo cluster in my RA and it was fine for 17,000 miles and now speedo jumps all over the place when in the 60-80 mph range.
