No truth man. All turbo cars are the same. If you want that turbo to last (longer), you have to let the oil cool down. Leave her running. I'd say just spend $100+ and get the turbo timer...

No, it's a turbo car, you have to let it cool.... Obviously if you haven't spooiled the turbo or you did some very easy driving before you parked you don't really have to let it cool

if you buy a turbo timer or an alarm to let it cool of automatically you will be fine.

Your friend however is not fine, and should have his head examined sooner than later to avoid any type of recurring symptoms of retardedness.

No, it is true. Not all turbo cars are the same. Older ones weren't water and oil cooled, so it was necessary in order to keep the oil in the bearings from coking. On our turbo, we don't need a turbo timer, and as EVOL EDO said, only wait around if you've been driving it hard right before parking.

You don't have to doubt it... it doesn't have one either.

I actually am fairly certain there aren't any cars with built in turbo timers....

Does your friend smoke rocks by any chance?

+1

I have researched this over and over, and the end result is that you don't really need turbo timer for the reasons that Warrtalon has stated. BUT it IS a good idea to let the engine warm up before a drive to reduce wear. I purchased an alarm w/ autostart for this reason.

Too bad people dont read the whole thread before getting their info

++1 true these day you might not need a lot off things but what $100 turbo timer and 45 secs when you park your car if it helps the car last a little longer kool

IMO turbo timers are a stupiud pain in the ****. My car came with one when I bought it, but I turned the dang thing off last week - hopefully for good.

1) Pain in the butt to always have to explain why the dang car is still running.
2) Pain in the butt to move it 10 feet and have to reach down and turn the tt off.

Overall like others have said, just sit there for a few seconds. Doesn't take long.

To each their own I guess. Free speach rocks. I'm always either pulling into my parking lot at work or garage at home, so I just take it easy the last thousand feet or so. Predominantly, I just got tired of explaining it.

I love having my turbo timer, when its cold outside I run out their turn my car on set the timer for like 10 minutes and run back inside. Warms the car up witout any worry of someone stealing my baby plus the whole cooling turbo yada yada thing.

That is terrible for your engine. You do NOT want it to idle for 10 minutes to warm it up. You need to warm it up by driving around out of boost. This is a terrible idea; please don't continue doing it.
