New FMIC-OK to leave undertray off?

I had a dealer's service shop install an AMS intercooler and lower intercooler pipe in my '03, and the front undertray (splashguard?) will not fit back on the car on account of the new, bigger intercooler. While others who get a new intercooler tend to cut their undertrays to fit around it, the dealer's service people were reluctant to do this, citing the fact that they had no template to guide the cutting. I realize that I could cut it, but perhaps I don't need to. Here's where experienced advice would be appreciated - will I encounter any serious trouble from the elements or any trouble with handling if I just leave the undertray off?. Note that, although the car is my daily driver, I drive another car in the winter. In the summer I do autocrosses and track days.

I wouldn't just leave it off. It's there to protect the underbody. I installed the AMS on my friends car and we did cut the undertay. It was easy and took like 10 min. to cut. So to answer your question i would not just leave it off.

WTF AZ = NWE?

I would say you want something to protect under there, and everyone is going to say "Don't drive your car without the undertray."

But let's let the other AMS intercooler guys chime in w/ what they did..

Personally i would cut it, or maybe someone can chime in and let us know if the APR splitter clears it?

This is what swayed me from the AMS to the BR standard IC, fit with no issues like stock for the undertray. I did not want to cut the tray or run without it...

haven't used mine for over a year now with no issues. If you are anything like me you'd get sick of removing it every other week and eventually break all the craplastic clips. Toss it

I would at least leave the piece which protects the oil cooler or you might be sorry later.
Either cut it or get a custom made one.

another viable option I just thought of that might work is the Carbign aluminum undertray...not 100% sure of the fitment issues with that tray and intercoolers, just thought id throw that into the mix
