This much tire wear w/ our Evo's?!

I was goin to put my Tein Flex's in in my 05 MR today but when I saw this! :

Wanted to ask you guys if any of you were experiencing as much inner tread wear as I am with stock suspension...? I heard that this was normal do to our aggressive stock toe angles but this much wear with only 12k miles with a rotation already done at 10k? Thanks in advance.

Some people claimed that there where alignment issues with earlier evos (03-04), I never had that problem. The problems supposedly stemmed from transport, try searching for that issue. Your tread depth looks pretty good for 12 k (excluding the increased inner wear). My Advans were gone by 10k and that was under fairly conservative driving. I was unaware of increased toe, but I have never investigated it. You could check alignment and set it to factory specs (which you will have to do when you install coilovers).

My fronts were corded at 8k miles. I also had Tein Flex coilovers on the car. I would hope they would last longer with the stock suspension

I'm not too up to date on mods for evos (trying to avoid it...since I want to stay stock)...but how much is the drop?

With my old civic when I first dropped it...the camber got all jacked up and I was wearing the inner treads bald by like 4k.

When I switched to a different setup, tire wear became normal again.

But if you have gotten that much tread wear in only about 2k miles...i would definitely run an alignment and camber check to see how bad they are out of spec. I hear that tires wear out quicker than other cars...but that seems like too much wear on just that one area to be the norm.

That looks very normal. There are, IMHO, 4 contributing factors to this "fast" inside wear:

1 - Toe - Evo probably comes stock with a bit more toe than the average car
2 - Camber - Evo probably comes with a bit more front camber than the average car
3 - Very soft tires - The stock Advans are a soft street compound known for wearing quickly on any car
4 - Aggressive Driving - The average Evo driver probably is a bit more "enthusiastic" around corners than the average Buick driver.

Of these 4 I would say the most important factors are the tire itself, as I got MUCH longer wear with a diffferent tire, and also the combination of using TOE and CAMBER together. One or the other won't affect tire life too much, but the combination is killer on tires.

I set my toe to 0 degrees front and rear after about 1500 miles... I've rotated my tires twice so far, at 3700 and 7500 miles, and the tires on the rear (which were recently moved from the front) are worn about like that. I have 8700 miles. I would say, yes, that looks about normal.

my tire wear was a little worse than that at 10k, then the right rear blew on the WV turnpike. went to the dealer and my factory settings were well outside spec. get it checked

Mine was like that and I only have a little over 10K miles. what I heard is that the EVO's came out like that meaning the car has camber that's why it handles really good on corners. I called my dealership and they said that they can do the alignment as long as the car is less than one year or 12,000 miles. It is still under warranty. Call your dealership and get the alignment for FREE!!!

When I bought my 05 the front end alignment was way off. I brought it back to the dealership 1 week after I bought it to have them fix it. I didn't notice the alingment being off when I bought it because I drove away in a huge blizzard with a brand new $30k car on brand new advans. I wasn't too concerned about the angle of my steeing wheel at the time. The car would pull the the right and the steering wheel was about 15-20 degree off when driving straight. Oh an my tires were also way over inflated which was just fixed about a month ago. I've only had the car for 4 months.
