MBC and Boost Gauge Installed, now to tinker!

Well, I got both of these installed yesterday, but had to rush off somewhere so I left the MBC turned to minimum boost. Anyway, my gauge is showing a peak of about 12psi right now.

Guess I just start turning it up until I hit 20 and enjoy???

Depends on the rest of your mods and octane, but 20psi is a safe place to start.

Do you have exhaust?
You really want to free up the exhaust to lower the egt's with the increased boost.
Besides that 20 is a really safe place to start. I wouldn't go higher unless tuned and had a fuel pump.

K&N, Vishnu Signature Catback, NOT tuned yet, and NO Walbro...that's why I figured I'd start at 20. Dallas has 93 octane pump gas.

All set...that was fun for the millisecond when I was tuning that I did a 3rd gear pull and full boost suddenly skyrocked up to 25'ish. I eventually found the safe and happy 20psi mark.

Question...

I guess maybe I have it tuned to a 20psi boost "spike"? It will jump up to 20, but then quickly comes to rest around 15-16psi. I never really noticed before except I was on the highway in 5th and got into it and the boost held around the 15-16psi mark, and this was in the 3k-5k rpm range.

Is that normal or can I turn it up some more? Is it alright for it to go past 20psi as long as it doesn't stay there?
