Evo Test drive;
Hey -
So i went to a Mitsu dealer this past weekend and sat inside of an evo 9 but the guy wouldn't let me test drive it, later that nighjt i went to another mitsu dealer and they had two pe-owned 8's. One was an '03, the other an '04 and this dealer wouldnt even let me test drive them. My ? is at which point did all of you test drive your cars? Im' assuming that you can only test drive them once you get the application started or something since alot of people would come to drive them just for fun or to say that they have driven one, i mean i was straight up and told them that i was looking to buy by the end of the year and i completely understand. But i couldn't imagine buying a car without test-driving it first.
Thanx,

Well, I can kind of understand them not wanting to let you drive a new Evo until you get started with the paperwork. It sounds pretty stupid though, that they wouldn't let you drive the used Evo's. That part doesn't make any since.

Seriusly, by you telling the salesman that you are looking to buy at the end of the year automatically tells him not to waste his time on you. These salesmen are looking for people who are ready to buy NOW or even ready to buy within the week.
They also usually refuse test drives since they do get a lot of flakers coming in to joy ride the car etc...
In addition many potential EVO owners who can afford a new one want their cars to be in pritine virgin, low-milege condition... I know I did...
Anyhow good luck finding a dealers that would allow you a test drive, if not look for some people you might know who own evos and ask if they'll let you drive theirs...
Thats exactly the way i felt, i mean a used one...come on it already has the miles on it whats a couple more what's done is done, but he gave me some crap about basically they dont do test drives on evo's because everyone already knows what they are about.

Let me tell you my story and then get to the point. I was like you: I'm not buying this kind of performance car without a test drive. So I went to the dealer and I got a flat "NO", at least not without a deposit.
So I made up my mind to buy something else, yet I couldn't break away from the idea of driving an Evo. I eventually got to test drive one (after finding an old salesguy that was only there for fun part-time and didn't care one way or the other). However, I did find my Evo, which had 1500 miles on it after being repossessed on another lot. No problems test driving this used '03.
The point: (1) Either find a cool dealer guy who is willing to sneak you in under the radar or, (2) go with a used car. I still would not buy without a test drive, so go somewhere else if the salesmen are not willing to compromise. Good luck!

I totally feel you on that, Bro...

I didn't untill I put 500 on one. And then they let me test drive it, but I technically aready had purchased it. You just have to know what you want, Subby is the same way with the STI. Read everything you can about the car and go from there. Where do you live? See if someone can link up with you to take you for a ride. I live in C.N.Y. and would be happy to take you for a ride if you lived near by.
the first time I arrived at the dealership this guy filled up the tank of the evo.. and let me test drive it.. which is my car right now.. the reason I bought it... damn he let me test drive it.. i liked it! and loved it!
Damn! man thaks alot and i mean that...I live in Cali though, but man i really appreciate you willing to do that for me. Have a good one.
