USDM EVO GSR model??
Japanese GSR should have ACD, AYC, and 6-speed. The US Evo8 is basically an RS drivetrain on a GSR. If you really want to nitpick, the US Ev08 isn't the J-Spec GSR because their car will be RHD, too.
They basically took an RS 5-speed,
1. Strip the ACD
2. Added four 15 watt speaker,
3. crap radio,
4. base climate control without the semi auto,
5. No power fold mirrors.
6. GSR antenna
7. GSR color matching mirrors
8. GSR steering wheel
9. US Seating
10. USDM grey trim
11. USDM keyless entry
12. USDM bumpers
13. RS 1 din setup
14. USDM guages with lancer instead of "evolution"
15. Strip the front LSD and put a more profitable open diff like the wrx.
Some good, some bad, we have the USDM evo 8. This one is probably the most profitable evo ever.

yeah but... back to the original question... anybody heard of a special GSR model for U.S.?? This dealer has 2 Evos on the floor and then says "but, I have a GSR coming in in 2 weeks, something a little different"... I know about the JDM GSR.... but never heard a peep about a U.S. GSR... how is might be different the the standard US Evo? Dealer does not know .. they never know anything!! This is in Californi-a
The US Evo roll-out is in several "phases". We are currently in phase I, although phase II may include a GSR model and phase III may include a "RalliArt" Evo. I don't have the facts, and I've only heard rumors. Maybe someone who knows can fill us in...

As I posted somewhere before, the press release says:
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/i...0-03/0271.html
The U.S. market specification Lancer Evolution VIII derives from the Japanese market Lancer Evolution VII GSR. While sharing major parts and components with the upcoming Japanese market Evolution VIII, the U.S. model has been developed exclusively for the U.S. to meet crashworthiness and emissions requirements, user needs and preferences, and road and traffic conditions in that market. With a price tag of under US$30,000, Lancer Evolution VIII offers unmatched driving pleasure.
That's not a true statement either. Why does everyone want to figure out what the US Evo VIII is when we all know it's simply the US Evo VIII.
We could also say it's a Viper with a different engine, different badging, different body, drivetrain...blah blah blah. Who cares. The US gets a certain model and we all know what's "missing" if you consider it to be missing anyway, and the rest of the world gets the two or three models they've always gotten.
I'm just tired of some questions being asked just to be asked....they don't really serve much of a purpose. Once we figure this one out what exactly are we doing with the info? Nothing, there's nothing to apply it to other than bar room talk.
