Lime Rock Track Report II
Lime Rock Track Report II
Hi All,
Want to lap everyone in the instructor/racer group twice in 20 mintues at your next DE? Drive the Evo in the rain. I did this all day today without working up a sweat. This car rocks in the rain! I ran it on the yokohamas and can report that for a street tire, these are pretty good in the rain. 35 psi front, 33 psi rear cold pressure seemed good. The need for a front LSD becomes even more apparent in the rain, although you will be the only one who thinks so. I did'nt alter my previous camber settings but for the dry, the car would need more like -1.5 rear and -2plus up front. Today, my previous settings were just fine. Took one of the instructors for a ride. He could'nt believe the amount of speed we could carry so effortlessly. Z-06's, Vipers, Porches, BMW"s, it did'nt matter. Child's play. I thought about disconnecting the sway bars just to see what would happen, but I was having so much fun that I could'nt spoil it by laying in the mud under my car. The only downside to the day was that I confirmed that my discs have either warped or suffered some other malady that produces brake judder. The Pagid race pads on the car were bedded per Pagid instructions, the same way I have always bedded pads on my racecar. I am researching this issue and will report when I have answers. The brakes will be an ongoing issue. All in all, it's going to be a while before this stupid grin stuck on my face goes away.
Cheers,

Man I love hearing these reports from you. Keep 'em coming! BTW, my last trip to Summit point in my AWD Talon was in the beginning of December. It was actually snowing at one point! Track was cold, wet, and nasty. The car passed everything it came across! Even with what turned out to be a separated axle (ended my day early), that thing was still all over everything else.
Days like that leave little doubt in your mind that AWD rules. I can only imagine how cool the EVO will be.

Hi,
I did not have the rotors turned, because I have seen this judder before with BMW's. I have seen it go away with additional heat but because my 2nd track day in this car was in the rain, I could'nt build up sufficient heat in the brakes to see if this would cure the problem. From what I have read on Lancerregister.com I think I will be sourceing new rotors.

Hi All,
I have on order a set of group n discs from the UK. Will cryogenically treat and pay extra attention bedding in. Currently I am running Pagid grey race pads up front and blues in the rear. I think it's rs-19 and rs-42. Yes, they dust heavily.
