You know? Just when you look at people on this planet with contempt, someone like yourself renews ones spirit in humanity.

We all need to take care of each other...and teach as well. GodSpeed brother.

I know it sounds small, but if there is anything I can do to help, PM me or email me and I'd be happy to oblidge if able.

Anytime. Anytime at all.

I have quite a few young ones in my family, nieces and nephews. I couldnt imagine being in a situation like that, all I know is I would hope there would be people that would help.

Again, keep up the good work.

The rough part for me, was looking up in the windows of the hospital, and the kids staring down, who could not come and sign it. The parents, and grandparents signed for them, and after they wheeled their child/grandchild into the hospital again, they came down and STARED at the signature their child left, (and took photos with cameras and camera phones) they fought back the tears. That was tough for me to take. The kids are innocent, and they really cant grasp whats going on with them, except they are "going to sleep" soon. when all the parents were standing around, and the kids were gone, it got awfully quiet around the car. BECAUSE we can grasp the reality. The parents expressed great interest in going to the event, because in actuallity, their kids WILL be with me, and the parents know that as well!!! As alot of the kids who signed it wont be around much longer. I think I will give the fenders to the hospital to hang up in the lobby, as a memento, or something.

The Indy drivers were there because they are OBLIGATED to be there, I was there because I WANTED to be there!! I had fun, so did the kids, and the parents smiled with us all, so I would say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

I started all this with the hospital in '02? I gave my services away for 1 week, in exchange for my services, the patients had to give me a toy to give to the kids, something they could hold while they were there alone at night. I dropped off 10 HUGE plastic totes full of toys and stuffed animals to the hospital, (my first year) and the staff met me down at the front door, and they were happy to get them. The lady that took them, said "let me get your photo next to all these toys, for advertising for you" I said : "NO, its NOT ABOUT ME!!", and walked back to my car and left. I do that every year, and they NEVER ask to take my photo anymore.

Cool

that was very honorable to say that you didnt want your picture taken for "advertising" for you. i think you will get a bigger response by word of mouth now. it is more personal that way. it is truely for the kids and not the million dollar drivers that are required to be there. funny thing is, the kids will remember the EVO more than the drivers themselves...here's to you Smokey...

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the kind words. Badhabit, I think thats the nicest post you made! (in one of my posts, anyway ) I went in where the drivers were signing "their photos" and there wasnt any"child" interaction, it was the parents putting the photo in the drivers face, they signed it and "next" all of them were at a table, and it was like an assembly line. The kids came out to my car, and there was a genuine warm feeling. they werent shunned by me (like they were inside), they were WELCOMED!! I GOT THE KIDS' AUTOGRAPHS!!
