Are you a better driver because you drive an Evo?

I am alot more careful since owning an EVO, I was reckless and stupid with my last car but now I baby the EVO and take extra precautions not to get it hurt in anyway.
who knows? there is a family oriented kart type center known as " SPEEDZONE " here in socal. most guys in the area have been there.
they have a track known as the gran prix which you need a drivers license.
if you are decently fast you usually run in the 40-41 second range.
I consistently run laps in the low 39 second range with a best of 38.517 seconds.
keep in mind all done at a ridiculous bodyweight of 370 lbs!

I think since I am a better driver.....I actually drive slower on public roads.
When I had a slower car I drove faster.....I have a faster car now; everyone else knows it is faster so no need to show it.

totally agree. I was at road america this past weekend with windy city bmw, even though, I was faster ones in my group. I was passing e46 m3, e36 m3, elise, m5. However, in a few occasions, my instructor told me that if not for the AWD, I would have lost it.
I believe evo can make you look better than your true driving skill. Now on the track, I really don't care how many cars that I pass, instead I am more concentrate on be smooth and be consistent on hitting brake points, turning points, apex, and track out.

I personally think driving an EVO has made me a better driver. Because of the suspension and the way the car handles you definitely get a very "connected to the road" feeling from the car. Also the steering is very sensitive (even 'touchy'). And with the power that the car has... and the gearing etc... the throttle is pretty responsive too. Because of these things, I feel that when I'm driving my EVO it forces me to focus on driving more. I really think that you have to pay attention when driving one of these cars... because the car almost demands it.
I've also noticed that I think I usually drive a bit slower and more carefully in my EVO than I did in my other past cars becase I'm more concious and aware of the speed I'm going, because I can definitely feel it better.
So, I'd say that owning this car has actually made me a better driver because I'm more aware of driving. When you drive a Lincoln Towncar... you are probably listening to country music and thinking about your next golf game... you're not thinking about how to take your next turn... or what RPMs your engine is running at etc. I think just by the nature of being more aware while you are driving... eventually could make you a better driver.
I think that is also why an EVO is not for everybody... some people don't want to think about driving or about their car... they just want to get from point A to point B. I personally enjoy my time between those two points... I even look forward to it! That's why I love this car.
