my v1 was doin that to me randomly on i 95 on the way to florida but never does it hear other than the usual low level false alerts which most the time logic mode takes care of ... the v1 is def the best but i have an 8500 and had an x50 they are both very good the x50 gets the least amount of falses... but the v1 has saved me so many itmes i never drive without it

it's almost certainly caused by voltage spikes! My 8500 was doing it so much that I wasn't trusting it anymore and I almost got ambushed by the real deal. if it weren't for the two cars in front of me I would driven right into 6 FHP under an overpass runing laser. I
've asked the tech @ Valentine and he said it was a common problem with the voltage system in certain Japenese cars. As a test I put it in my F250 Superduty and had no false alarms, put it back in the Evo and same thing.
I switched to the V-1 and have had zero regrets! You couldn't pay me to go back to the 8500! The arrows are a huge bonus, they allow you to detrmine the direction of the threat and adjust accordingly.
If you want to stay with the 8500, try hardwiring it, as thats what the guys @ valentine recommended.

Well get this. If my X50 is on while I wash my car, I can get the laser warning to blast. I sometimes can get it to do this if I aim the water from my water hose at the windsheild just above the X50... I guess I'm achieving the correct spectrum of light with the water spray or something. It happens sometimes if I'm driving into the sunset after passing through a scatterd rain shower as well. I guess the X50 is scared of water.

That's exactly what it is. I almost bought an FX-45 and it came with it. It uses a lasar for it's cruise control. First thing that came to mind was that it would screw up things for those of us that have a V1 or X50.

I have the exact same problem with my x50, I have disabled the laser portion to do how annoying it was when the thing would go off. I feel I only need ka anyway and it has saved me atleast a half a dozen times.

Yeah, I saw a lower number of instances after I hardwired mine. All you need is a foot of phone cord and a soldering iron. Cheap and easy. Just solder it up to the hot and ground areas of your dome light and you will have power from the time you open the door till the time you shut the car off and let it sit for a few minutes and then it will turn off automatically.

It's a steady power source of 12V and it's very clean. Just mount your V1 or X50 next to your rear view mirror and go.

My 8500 x50 seems to over heat! When the sun directly shines on it for a while or when the car is really hot inside, it would say service required. But when I turn my AC on and use the window blowing option to have the AC air dirctely blowing at the 8500 x50, it works fine. Where can I get my 8500 x50 fixed? Thanks

I think there is a thread similar to this.

I had this happen to me about a month ago. I was doing it at WOT for about 2-3 weeks. I was pissed! I even checked all my hardwire connections to make sure they were still good. About a week ago I suspected a bad tank of gas, so after I filled up with reliable stuff, I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU, and it hasn't done it ever since.

From what I've read, I think it's a voltage drop. I believe that the passports have a very small range for voltage changes. Does it happen more regularly at night? If so, it's probably because the HIDs are sucking some of the power, as well as the engine drawing some power at WOT.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and see what happens.

Of course those with V1's will automatically pipe in with their .02 by thinking their product is better. Whatever...

I've had this happen to me on my X50 and it's really random. Not at any particular throttle setting or location. I just mute it and keep on trucking. Arrows shmarrows....

I have an 8500 and have had no problems. I have had it for over a year now. I have mine hardwired so I never have any cigarette lighter issues, and I take it down when I park my car so the sunlight doesn't damage it.
